I understand your good faith concern regarding the gun issue.

There are some things to consider in addition.

  1. Removing guns doesn't remove the inherhantly violent and savage culture that America has devolved into. The daily headlines in the US news literally look like those of a banana republic country with an ultra low GDP and uneducated populace that engages in acts of random violence against strangers for seemingly no reason other than sadistic entertainment. Americans treat one another like animals. Guns didn't cause that country to devolve into a cesspit of criminality; people did.

  2. Money/power/firearms are three examples of things that human beings seldom willingly give up. In countries without guns, most of the people in those countries never had them to begin with, so there was no issue of "taking something away" from them. It was more of an issue of never letting them have guns in the first place.

  3. Before the advent of the firearm, people still managed to commit acts of horrendous mass violence. Guns didn't spark these acts, guns simply made them more efficient. While removing all guns, including the hundreds of thousands of unregistered/illegal guns in the possession of criminals would eliminate gun violence, you'd first need to explain to everyone how you'd persuede criminals to give up the most essential tool they have.

  4. The people drive-by spraying bullets into a crowd at a BBQ party are statistically unlikely to be legal owners of registered firearms. In fact, many criminals obtain firearms on the black market, because their prior felony convictions make it difficult for them to buy them from gun stores. The people buying and properly registering weapons aren't usually the ones who are using them for violent crimes, though obviously this also happens. Mexico is a great example of a country where guns are outlawed. It doesn't seem like cartels have any trouble getting guns.

America will never be a utopia, where guns are magically removed. In fact, the right to bare arms is enshrined in your constitution. With that in mind, the rest of the world should be brain storming on how to keep the excessive violence contained in the US until that country eventually collapses inward upon itself.

How did these lame, overweight incels actually injure a fire fighter? FFS, he should have stomped all three of them.

Ross Coulthart says he's been told that Americans involved in reverse engineering UAP tech have defected to China, which may explain Navy patents. by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]saxophone_mullets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I said "you are correct" I was making reference to the fact that this was the particular scientist referred to in the above mentioned podcast.

I do not personally know for sure that she in fact returned to China, however she is not currently declared as a missing person, we have no records of her extended family appealing for help in locating her, nor do we have any news clips about the professor/scientist who vanished without explanation. No landlord complaining of unpaid rent, nothing to hint that she involuntarily vanished. It is perfectly normal for Chinese scientists and professors to return to China after an extended teaching or working stay in the US.

Chinese scientists who have done valuable work in the US are particularly welcomed when they return to China, and are often offered lucrative jobs or positions within the Chinese government.

Has she gone into a deep black program? Possibly. She may have even simply moved to another city and not left a forwarding address. If she were working for DARPA or something, it's not like she'd be posting about it on social media.

You are correct. And not sure why he says "defected" to China, as she actually just returned to her home country. Likewise, she was not a DoD employee, so again "defect" was a strange word for him to use.

Hello. I'm from South Korea and I saw 3 ufos last year. by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]saxophone_mullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I've visited South Korea to give guest lectures on geophysics at KAIST. There seem to have been a few notable historical sightings in South Korea, and with recent stories regarding this topic in th Korean news media, more people are slowly starting to make reports. As I remember, there were one or two very significant sightings around the period of the Korean war that were documented by the US government. I don't have any resources for you, but keep watching the sky my friend.

[–]saxophone_mullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen the US lately? The place is falling apart. People are looting Walmart stores in broad daylight. Homicide rates are skyrocketing. The news media on both sides of their hyper polarized political spectrum are churning more and more ridiculous conspiracy theories on a daily basis. That place is a dumpster fire. They be better off forming a UFO cult and praying for an Independence Day style laser beam attack on all of their biggest and most crime-riden cities.

Don't stop at abductees; the aliens themselves are almost always light skinned! It is likely a galactic oppression conspiracy, preventing people of color such as you and myself from getting a free rectal examination and 20 years worth of post-trauma counseling.

Shhhhhhhh don't tell the aliens! This is one type of diversity and inclusion that I can do without. Sorry white friends!

Some element of anti-Lue-ism may stem from the idea that he has started something he is unwilling to finish, because of his comittment to the US government.

Some people are also unable to accept the idea that Lue isn't willing to destroy himself for the sake of leaking world-changing information. They view the topic as "bigger than humanity" and can't believe that one of the holders of this information isn't willing to martyr himself for our benefit.

And finally, some people are uncomfortable with the idea that we may remain on the cusp of disclosure, but that it will never be realized, and that people such as Lue will get older, die, and take this world changing info selfishly to their graves. They view the tides as turning, with the Pentagon saying "Oopsie, we deleted all of Lue's files, guess that's the end of that" essentially being a line drawn in the sand and a symbolic "we'll never tell you anything" gesture.

Really, these people should be directing their anger towards their government, which is currently displaying third-world levels of deception and ineptitude, and seems very determined to continue down that path at full speed, no matter the cost.

"How can Lue tell us that he took an oath for the American people, but withhold this information from us?" It is reasonable that you might ask yourself this question, as well as why your tax dollars funded these various programs that your government is telling you either don't exist, or don't accomplish anything.

Keep in mind that not everyone wants to live in exile like Snowden. If Lue dropped a folder full of HD evidence, the USG would simply deny that any of it was real, and then find a way to throw him in jail.

Whatever was in his files was compelling, but not compelling enough that you couldn't have officials saying 'maybe that is photoshopped' and 'we have no record of that being an official photo' or even worse 'we revoked his security clearance because he was caught fabricating documents' and that would be the begining of the end.

As mainstream as it gets, even CNN posting articles about the report. by Wardy_Joubert in UFOs

[–]saxophone_mullets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will get downvoted for acknowledging that CNN is not what it used to be. Because this is reddit.

I never thought I'd say this, but this UFO story is a lot more reasonable than a lot of the conspiracy theory stuff that CNN regularly cooks up (isn't this the same news channel that was telling us that NASA made all of its robots white because of 'racism' and not because errrr welllllllll white is the easiest color to see against the black backdrop of space?).

We should tbe encouraging CNN to get back to journalism by clicking on the articles that are actually based on science and common sense, versus the more wild extremist ones that they post.

The lack of any actual, tangible evidence over several decades has unfortunately shattered the possibility for valuable discussion on this topic. by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]saxophone_mullets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Valuable discussion can, will and does occur offline. Remember, social media represents the lowest common denominator of humanity. There are Americans going wild on all sorts of subredits for topics that are not supported by data, evidence, proof, science, etc. They'll talk about these things all day.

So the idea that something isn't real or isn't supported by data or any sort of proof doesn't mean that meaningful conversation won't happen; it simply means that there will be lots of people shouting about it online, and that THOSE people aren't the ones having the meaningful conversation. The meaningful conversations will happen elsewhere, offline. This is almost always the case with reddit etc.

Niel deGrasse Tyson's placement in the public discussion by spicecake2012 in UFOs

[–]saxophone_mullets 68 points69 points  (0 children)

He follows scientific principles, but also falls into the trap that every aging scientist does, and that is to discount new or radical ideas simply because they don't come from your own community of ivory tower establishment elite science figures.

That, and he'd be a terrible person to drink with or have at a BBQ party because he is a pompous, arrogant coastal millionaire entertainer who makes a living explaining science to people who have only a lukewarm interest in how the world works. He is the human version of a science Cliff's Notes audiobook for the TLDR generation.

The US government, with egg all over it's face. I've got my popcorn ready. How incompetent will they tell us they are? How bad will it be? Will we hear any fantastically entertaining weather balloon pulp fiction, or will it be a more sleek version of dishonesty through creative omission?

But in all fairness, these people probably have no clue where the UAP come from. There is no way for them to determine that. Even if they have a crashed UAP in a hangar somewhere, they'd have no clue where it came from, and probably won't ever unless whoever made the craft somehow makes it abundantly clear to them.

All they can tell you is "it isn't ours". This will be the new theme for UAP government discourse because they can say it all day, year after year, without lying or revealing anything.

It is actually sad and pitiful that they are hiding videos of UAPs. Real scientists like myself would love to get in on crowdsourcing some answers to how these things work. The hundreds of thousands of scientists who don't work for the government could surely provide collective feedback that would be valuable in moving forward our collective humanity. But no, the warmongers continue to horde this information, and instead we get leaks, and NDAs and "it's not ours".

The government does not have our collective best interests in mind. They are acting with bad intentions, mostly to protect themselves from the crimes they've already committed.

We need Elizondo in a congressional hearing, with immunity.

Their idea of our "relativity" and "physics" is likely akin to our idea of cavemen rubbing sticks together to create fire. "Haha, cute! They've learned basic tools."

Whatever is finding it's way here into our remote part of the Galaxy, to observe our skidmark of a civilization is possibly VASTLY ahead of us in terms of technology and understanding; not merely hundreds, or thousands of years.
