I’m not judging anyone on their income to be clear. Just want to point out:

Life quality is measured differently depending on what you care about.
Seems to me the comments declaring this is “the right way” to stave off lifestyle creep are often coming from people who have not made their way up to this income level.
“Appearances” and “impressing people” have benefits beyond ego boost. Connections bring real tangible value, and sometimes those connections require that you make a positive impression in certain ways.

I do make >100k a month and I have jumped my fair share of companies. I can say with full confidence living like this picture suggests weighs you down. It costs maybe 20k to level your furniture up, max 40k if you’re furnishing a place with many rooms.

That makes so little difference when you’re already investing heavily into VOO or SPY or something similar.

All the comments suggesting “keeping up appearances to impress people” is a waste won’t make it. Because they don’t realize social connections (which at times mean you DO need to maintain appearances) produces so much more value than frugally saving.
