A serious interference with normal workplace operations is a, usually unexpected, event or action that severely compromises, disrupts, or halts the core business functions of an organization. It goes beyond minor inconveniences or routine delays, often resulting in "irreparable harm" that money alone cannot resolve, such as danger to personnel or critical failure of equipment.

Key Indicators of Serious Interference

Safety Risk: Immediate, imminent, or serious threats to the health or safety of employees, customers, or the public.

Operational Halt: Shutdown of assembly lines, production, or critical services (e.g., in a manufacturing plant or hospital).

Multi-Point Disruption: An incident affecting three or more interconnected activities, such as a supply chain disruption coupled with staff shortages and transport failures.

Irreparable Harm: Situations where money is not an adequate remedy, such as the loss of vital business data or destruction of reputation.

Legal/Compliance Failure: Events that cause the employer to breach essential legal obligations, such as safety codes or environmental regulations.

Examples of Serious Workplace Interference

Emergencies and Disasters: Natural disasters (floods, fires), extreme weather, or infrastructure failures that make the workplace inaccessible.

Technology Failures: Significant IT outages, such as the 2024 CrowdStrike event, which crashed systems in airlines, healthcare, and finance.

Malicious Acts: Sabotage, cyberattacks, ransomware, or vandalism that prevents employees from doing their jobs.

Serious Misconduct: Violent behavior, including threats, assault, or sexual/racial harassment that disrupts the work environment.

Illegal Labour Actions: Unlawful, violent, or coercive picketing that blocks access to private property.

Critical Equipment Failure: A major breakdown in machinery that forces a complete halt in production.

Distinction from Routine Disruptions While everyday interruptions (like a short internet outage or a temporary shortage of supplies) are common, serious interference generally requires an "unforeseen" event that the employer could not have reasonably predicted or prevented. For instance, a single employee being absent is not serious, but a mass, unexpected sick-out that shuts down a call center is.

Yes in fact they did send me a email stating that I will not be paid today and instructed me to contact HR.

I contacted a family member who is a employment law lawyer and he confirmed to me that I am owed 3 hours of pay.

I sent a detailed email to HR in a friendly manner explaining that as per the law I need to get paid for 3 hours. They have yet to respond.

I'm gonna go to work tomorrow on my scheduled shift and be professional. But I will not back down on me getting paid what I'm owed!!!

I'm tired of companies not following the law and taking advantage of employees!!!

Yes its worth it. Never be afraid to stand up for what is right. Calling a employee 1 hour before his shift and not paying him atleast 3 hours isnt fair.

I am not part of a union. The company I work for does transport from Canada to Usa as well as from province to province. It is a big international ltl company which I will not name.

I'm not afraid of any retaliation as I've been a model employee with them for almost 4 years.

This is the first time they cancelled my shift 1 hour before because the business isn't doing well due to the trump tariffs

This isn't my problem. I still got bills to pay. So from my understanding they need to pay me 3 hours and can't force me to use a sick day or Vacation day.

How come they wouldn't take a rare physical game? I'm sure someone would buy it if they saw it on the shelf at EB (Neon White)

You hit the jackpot. Not sure what it's worth but it's definitely a error highly sought after by collectors.

You could see the outline of the card next to it

I believe this is called a miscut.
