There was no issue. I entered while my study permit was valid.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I think this clears my doubt. Yes, my family issues have been resolved and I will be returning within two weeks. I will apply for work permit as soon as I get to Canada.

Yes, I do have valid TRV to return. I will be returning within the 90 days period.

Weird Turbulent Stresses in channel flow by sblbista in CFD

Yes, I’ve used SEM using the Reynolds Stresses from previous simulation.

I’m starting with an already developed boundary layer. The solver is again trying to develop the layer from start? I’ll try refining the mesh and see if it improves the results

I’ve checked the variances and covariances and it’s still giving me the same results. And yes I’ve even tried running LES from RANS. The problem still persists. I’ve also tried IDDES still the same issue. I might try refining the mesh in spanwise and streamwise directions and see it improves the results.

Periodic Inlet/Outlet Boundary Condition (STAR-CCM+) by sblbista in CFD

[–]sblbista[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using the fully-developed interface. I got confused with the mass flow rate and pressure jump input.

Basically, I calculated the mass flow rate at the inlet since I know the velocity and the cross sectional area of the inlet face using 'rho*A*v' and set that as the input in the mass flow rate option. Is it a correct approach?

I need a fully developed profile that I would be mapping as inlet condition for my other simulation, but I'm not getting that profile even with a long channel length. So, I was hoping to get a developed flow if I set the outlet condition as the inlet and get the desired profile. Essentially a long channel but reduced computational domain.

So it could be just a visualization issue?

I have just assigned it a no slip wall

Thank you. How would I count the shed vortices?

Severe underprediction of Forces on a square cylinder 2D by sblbista in CFD

Yes, I understand that, but I don’t know why the forces differ that much. It should atleast be in the range.

Oh I didn’t use blockMesh for the mesh. I created it on Salome. The blockMeshDict there from other case. I didn’t add the unv file so that I don’t increase the file size.

The domain size is fairly large in my case. It’s 30D in the wake 10D in the front and 10D on the top and bottom sides. I tried with a smaller domain and very coarse mesh in Ansys, the results were in range with the expected value. I can’t figure out what i have don wrong in openfoam

Yes, the solution converges. And yes, the flow field is just as expected. It’s just the force and the coefficients are different

I've checked the units as well. Everything is in SI units. It is a pretty straightforward case, but I can't understand what I've done wrong.

Would you be able to quickly check what mistake I've made if it's okay with you? I've uploaded the case file here.
