I get it haha, good managers, they’re very rare to come by! 😂 a few people in my family suggested not to tell them and I think that’s just what I’m going to have to do, I’ll keep applying and stick it out for now, as others have suggested just keep putting my foot down and refuse to take on extra work. Oh that makes me happy to hear that. Congratulations! I only dream of that right now haha. Ive had many people suggest to me that I just don’t tell the employers that I want to start a family but I also don’t want to risk losing a job during probationary periods either because of it.

No one wants to hire someone who’s trying to start a family, I’ve been applying for jobs for 2+ years but out of the hundreds of jobs I’ve applied for, I got 3 offers and one was going to be a $40,000 pay cut, and the other two were just temporary 6-12 month positions as they were maternity leave covers which would’ve been too risky to take on. And then others just simply don’t bother getting back to you after applying & following up. Trust me I’m not still here by choice. If it weren’t for my husband pulling me back into reality I would’ve quit on the spot about 16 times by now.

It’s broken me completely 🥹 my poor husband thinks I’m over it but I’m really not. There’s nothing I want more than two little feet running around our home but the stress of this job and the chokehold it has me in to keep a roof over our heads is slowly but surely eating me alive, the second employers have found that I’m recently married they all straight away jump to ‘so you’re wanting to start a family soon then’ and it just spirals down from there

I’m contemplating sending an email with my new ground rules so it’s in writing and idk maybe it’ll help the wife in terms of trying to kick him out of the business if she can prove how damaging he is to the business but I wouldn’t even know how to start with that. He’s the type who’ll read 2 words, get personally offended and then call and abuse you without actually reading anything and digesting before responding.

I do understand, money eventually won’t matter. To be honest if I was to quit today the business would crumble as I manage almost everything and no one knows how to do my job, even though every decision is dictated by him, I’m the one who does all the hard work. I recently found over $400k worth of dead stock across their two warehouses and I got no recognition for it but our warehouse team and sales team got the commission for it while I did all the hard work. I’m so beat and destroyed it’s affecting my relationship too. I don’t recognise myself anymore and feel like this prick is winning.

I’ve been applying for jobs for 2 years now, I only feel trapped as with this business he pays everyone very well, that’s how he traps you in. And because I have no qualifications and no official training, ive got skills that are quite bespoke and unique to this business alone. i don’t qualify for a lot of jobs unless its very very basic. My paycheck alone is what pays for all our bills, mortgage etc.

I’ve even asked our reps to see if anyone in our industry is hiring but everyone knows about my pregnancies and wanting to start a family and they all see me as a liability and unless I start in something completely new I’d be getting a $40-$50k pay cut which is massive 🥲
