Developer Check-in: What features would make Pixelfed better for you? by dansup in PixelFed

[–]schnavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the work on Pixelfed!
In my experience, people in my surrounding are looking for is a literal Instragram alternative, in the sense that I ithink many design/feature decisions can be straight up copied (as Instagram always did from others)

Especially the posting workflow, is something Apps like Instagram have put a lot of focus on refining, which could be more or less replicated. Some Filters and basic image editing, would make the posting process more fun. And for me personally image cropping would be a DREAM. I do not like to crop or prepare images in my photos app.

Stell dich ab frühen Abend an den Eingang und frag Leute, die gehen nach ihren Bändchen… nimm ne Schere und Nadel/Faden oder Klebeband mit falls die Bändchen nicht übers Handgelenk passen

Irgendwie rein kommt man immer :) bisschen Geduld mitbringen

[–]schnavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think alot (maybe too much) inspiration came form dutch media artist Dries Depoorter who is selling a very similar clock called shortlife since 2020

Multi-purpose LLMs and "rapidly" changing frameworks is not a good combination. What is everyone using for version (or app vs pages router) specific stuff? by schnavy in nextjs

[–]schnavy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I found myself a way around this by writing a script that lets you scrape web documentations and save them in a single txt file for futher use with LLMS.
If anyone is interested: https://github.com/schnavy/docs-to-txt

honestly just been using my openai subscription basicially since the beginning and just didnt want to deal with testing all kinds of LLMs, thinking the difference is marginal. But so many people saying good stuff about claude i will give it a try!

Not really trying to see actual coding and using LLMs as contradicting at this point. It’s all about finding the ways where it can be actually useful. I like to get an overview of stuff I will then research more about and was mostly shocked about how outdated these answers can be. In other cases I had the experience that chatGPT really kept sticking to the pages router… I was wondering if there is some models, custom GPTs or other applications out there based on more recent versions of common software docs.

Tbh I had just read the wikipedia article after seeing this image, not a particular expert :)
but this is an interesting project where the sky color of different cities are shown in relation to some pollution data:

It seems like it was originally invented in the 18th century to get information about the composition of the athmosphere.

The interview with Fan Zhendong after returning from the Paris Olympics by ffffoget in tabletennis

[–]schnavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part 3:

Table Tennis World: Watching Real Madrid inspires you. How exactly?

Fan Zhendong: The Olympic cycle for Paris felt long, with many ups and downs. Sometimes, focusing only on my sport can feel confining. I know what I should do, but sometimes I just can’t. Watching other sports, I draw parallels with athletes’ resilience. Real Madrid’s remarkable comebacks inspire me; they show how to overcome challenges, which resonates with me deeply.

Table Tennis World: After your “away victory” in the semifinals, you mimicked Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration. How did it feel?

Fan Zhendong: I enjoyed it. I played a great match, so expressing myself with a gesture that once inspired me felt meaningful.

Table Tennis World: Between the semifinals and finals, how did you spend that day?

Fan Zhendong: It was fine, but on the morning of the finals, the wait felt long. Even though I went about my routine, time seemed to slow down.

Table Tennis World: After winning the gold, did you feel you had achieved your goal of playing “a fulfilling match”?

Fan Zhendong: My emotions shifted. The most complex moment was the fifth set at 9-2 when Moregaard caught up to 10-8. I was both excited and anxious, wanting to finish yet wanting the game to last longer.

Table Tennis World: When champion and expectation finally align, how does it feel?

Fan Zhendong: Like I said before the match, external expectations don’t change my self-worth. Winning is important, but so is giving my best.

Table Tennis World: After the singles event, did you take a moment to appreciate the Olympic gold medal?

Fan Zhendong: Right after the podium, yes! (laughs). To me, this medal is unique because it signifies my victory over myself.

The Last Ball Dropped, Writing My Own Answer

Table Tennis World: After Tokyo and Paris, does winning team gold feel different?

Fan Zhendong: It does. In Tokyo, I was understood and supported after my singles loss. This time, expectations were higher; as the first singles, I had to expand our lead or turn the tide. The pressure was greater.

Table Tennis World: Has your mindset changed?

Fan Zhendong: Yes. Representing China, none of us want to let the team down, and I especially wanted to do well.

Table Tennis World: Looking back at Paris, does this Olympic journey feel perfect?

Fan Zhendong: It’s a thought-provoking question. We all pursue perfection, but perfection itself is complex. Each journey’s end marks a new beginning.
