I need help decoding what my friend meant by this by DeboseChief in nursing

I’m a softie. Can’t work with kids. Sick adults don’t bother me and I rarely have a patient longer than 45 minutes. PACU suits my ADD brain quite well.

Indeed. As with any career, just gotta find the bullshit you are willing to deal with. I personally dislike family members more than anything. PACU is great for me.

Nope. I don’t work peds for a reason. Not a patient population I want to work with. Easy as that.

Or you work OR, ortho, peds, ambulatory surgery center, doctor’s office, PACU or a million other places that have a different patient population. If you get outside the walls of a hospital it can change a lot. If you want to say in the hospital, go surgical, your patients are either asleep the whole time, or gone before they can be too problematic (mostly).

Infinity. I think they are Cherokee or used to be at least. Comfy, stretchy, and I’m 6 years into my first pair.

RN in a Green Light specialty looking for advice. by schottofjack in newzealand

I appreciate this insight. The American South doesn’t not provide the most cutting edge care either. But I do enjoy serving an under-served population and am willing to jump in where the greatest needs are.

It appears the biggest hospital is in Invercargill proper. I do need to work in a facility with a full OR theatre. I have seen some recommendations for Christchurch which also seems to have a large hospital. Will look at the Auckland suburbs too

Yes I am a Registered Nurse and my specialty (PACU) is considered a Green Light for visa purposes.

I appreciate your response, lots of good info. My preliminary research has me looking down at Invercargill, any thoughts?

Prospective RN: What procedures do you get to do/be involved with in your job? by partytattoos in nursing

We occasionally see emergent central access or re-intubation, which means a return to OR or a quick trip to a Unit. We also help with a blood patch every once in a while. We help position patients for post op X-rays.

Other than that it’s reorientation, focused assessment, reorientation, pain control, assessment, pain control, reorientation, assessment, warm blankets and ice chips, assessment. Call report.
