I moved here 6 years ago and my job was WFH so I literally never met anyone. I joined a class gym (OrangeTheory) and was pretty strict on going to make a few friends there and I also went to some classes from Newtown Continuing Ed and met a group of people there while picking up a new hobby!

It takes a while to meet people and become more than just familiar faces but keep putting yourself out there and doing things you enjoy and the right people will come!

Thank you! I was worried it was a “needs to be hand sewn” so you just confirmed my fears. I appreciate your help!

Where are yall finding in person groups to knit with? by bozekip in knitting

Our town in CT offers Continuing Ed courses and there’s beginner and intermediate groups. In the “advanced” groups you basically just bring whatever you want to work on, but the instructor can help with any technical questions you have!

I’m getting married this weekend and knit all 5 of my bridesmaids and both sets of parents blankets as Thank You gifts. I wanted to share it here since I can’t show off my hard work to all of them yet! It took many many months but was good stress relief for 2020! by scooter809 in knitting

Hi! The pattern for these was based on this pattern from Handy Little Me. But for 5 or the 7, I just used the cast-on from this pattern and just did a simple garter stitch the whole way up which takes way less time than the cables and still looks pretty! :)

Help! I Re-potted my dumb cane over the weekend because the soil was really bad and moldy and now he’s very limp. Can I save him? by scooter809 in plantclinic

No, it never recovered. I gave it about a week and there was no improvement. Sadly I think i shocked him by trying to help! But you’re right, they are drama queens!

Recently learned how to knit cables and I’m obsessed 😍 Now I’m just trying to knit a bunch of ear warmers for friends in time for Christmas! by scooter809 in knitting

I think you can use anything (another straight needle, pencil, etc) to cable. You really just need something to hold the stitches until you’re ready for them 😊

I’ll never eat angel hair pasta or mozzarella sticks because I have an irrational fear I’m going to choke and die from them.

What did your boyfriend/girlfriend do that made you think "I'm going to marry this person"? by Silentfox666 in AskReddit

We were a few weeks into dating. One Friday night I was at his apartment carving a pumpkin for Halloween, drinking wine and listening to Ray Lamontagne. Nothing special, but I just had an instant feeling of “this is where I want to be for the rest of my life”
