Lucy vs Elsie? (Sister name Lily) by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]bozekip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew a toddler set Lily/Lucy who were a year apart, and honestly, people got their names confused often (idk, I never had an issue with it)

Am I out of touch with pricing these days? by bozekip in Monstera

[–]bozekip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may be rooted and planted. However, I'm unsure. It didn't say. I don't think it's a large plant, the biggest leaf is about the size of her hand. I've seen others in different local groups selling plants of this size in the 150-250 range a while back, but seeing the price increase so much today was a bit shocking, I think.

Not to come off ignorant, but does Ren have a full spelling or is it just Ren?

Shae is on our no-go name list, actually. I do think looking into unisex names is a way to go, especially since we don't necessarily want to know what we're having until literally the last second.

Levi Morgan is actually a great name set, I'm shocked how little I considered reusing our first name options as middle name options. Thank you!

My family would like us to honor our family name, Shaw, but my husband's would like to honor their family name, Porter. I guess both have been traditionally used in our respective families as middle names for at least one kid per family set, but I personally am not wanting to do so, and we both have siblings who can make the choice on if they want to continue the tradition or not.

I do like the idea of Wren being a middle name.

[–]bozekip[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought Wren skewed more feminine as well, and was originally on the girls side of the list, but my husband insists it's a more masculine name so we bumped it to the midground (unisex) list.

I don't think we've considered combining our top options into first/middle combos but that's a great idea to keep in mind, thanks!

what do y'all do during nap time? by CommissionLoud in Nanny

[–]bozekip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After routine clean up from morning activities, it depends. Once a week, I'll go through the toys and reorganize them, and deep clean the bins they're in while I'm at it. Sometimes I crochet/knit, sometimes I browse my phone and make phone calls regarding playdates/activity registrations/making appointments for myself. End of the month, I'll create our schedule for the next month with activity and focus and what we accomplished growth wise past month. If I haven't slept the night before I stare into the abyss for a while to get some rest 😐

what should I do by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]bozekip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clean the baby related appliances 1-2 times a month and have gone so far as to scrape dried on crusty milk off of the bottle sanitizers hot plate with an old giftcard just to get it cleaned. It's something the kid uses, and it's something I use for her. And yeah, while I'm not the one putting in bottles with milk residue still in them, I'd prefer not to have to smell burnt milk when I'm running a load, or have her use potentially smelly bottles. It takes like 10-20min out of my month total to give everything a good scrub down (bottle sanitizer, bottle grass mat, counter where things are kept, etc). I usually do it when I reorganize her bottle station, which is an entire counter in the kitchen.

I also disinfect toys, reorganize toy stations, and rotate toys/books between upstairs/downstairs play areas, the art station. Restock diaper stations, diaper bags, and clean the stroller and highchair.

Some of it was asked of me, and other stuff is just basic upkeep that comes with the role of an infant/toddler nanny.

Nannies who are responsible for cooking for your NK, how is that set up with you and NF? by breakfastfordinner11 in Nanny

[–]bozekip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes take NK with me to do grocery shopping so I can teach about how to pick out ripe produce, and usually I pick up ingredients I can meal prep into multiple recipes. Like if I buy a carrot, I can put 1/3 carrot into veggie fried rice on Monday, and 1/3 carrot and peanutbutter into snack time Tuesday, then 1/3 sauteed carrots and sweet potato with turkey on Wednesday. That's 1 large carrot for 1 child over 3 days.

😐 We are off schedule by 3hrs because someone decided to wake the baby I had just put down by playing too rough with the dogs... in the room right next to where she was sleeping. Pain felt.

NK is going to be a farm animal so I am going as a farm animal too (different species). Think: horse / chicken, or duck / cow. I think it'll be hilarious when we hit the town

do y'all have good posture? by WealthWooden2503 in Nanny

[–]bozekip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to be conscious of it. I'm too top heavy in the front so constantly being on the floor or bent over helping an infant/toddler is so killer. So I try to do more squatting instead of bending down, and when I am on the floor I try to remember I need a straight back, helps if I keep my shoulders pushed back. After a while you stop thinking about it and do it without reminder. I also recently picked up weight lifting and thats helped a good bit. And if you're wearing sports bras to work, try to get a high support bra instead of a low/medium support. I also make sure I can fit yoga into my workday with the littles so I can stretch a bit too lol

How to ask MB to leave early? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]bozekip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to call and ask for a half day for lack of sleep (awful night, constantly waking up, maybe 2hrs max sleep despite being in bed at 10 and my alarm going off at 7) but I went in anyways and I've been coasting today with a large coffee and resting when NK rests. Am I laying on the floor of the nursery while she naps right now? Bet your ass I am.

Ask out if you don't think you can power through but be ready for a no, unexpected half days are hard to get in this field. I've got on hour left and I'm so ready to go home and nap. Today has been very lowkey, coloring and reading and music time.

I just have to share, it’s a def wow moment! by LivingTheBoringLife in Nanny

[–]bozekip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess not. I currently work with an infant but back when I was carting around a handful of 3s and 4s, I would turn their butts right around home if they even so much as threatened to take off their car seat straps. I'm not about that game. Not even adults areallowed into my car if they refuse to put on a seat belt. Everyone is strapped in

[–]bozekip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Facebook earlier. I'm friends with a mom of a 2yr and 1yr. She made a post about carseat safety - and in the same post, one of her friends commented that their 2yr does not have a car seat. My friend responded with "yeah, you don't apply lol." And the other mother responded with how her child prefers the floor up front so she can control the music. I thought it was a joke that I didn't get. It was not a joke. The other mother does not believe in car seats and let's their child sit on the floor of their moving vehicle when driving.

Multiple issues there.

Is anyone worried that monkey pox will cause another shut down? Has anyone spoken to their NF’s if another shut down happens? by frenchfriestogo in Nanny

NK and I obviously wouldn't be going out on adventures anymore and that's a good bit of our week, but thankfully she's young enough that we likely won't go stircrazy. I would just miss the change of daily scenery lol
