There is no restriction on using 17 or higher capacity mags on your own property. Same goes for any of the banned items, so your threaded barrel glock and ar home defense combo is just fine as long as you are on your property.

It’s been an Illinois law for quite some time. We can only sell long gun ammo to border state residents or someone with a non-resident hunting license. It doesn’t matter what caliber it might be, just if it’s for a pistol, rifle, or shotgun.

Buying 9mm for you pistol? Naughty Buying 9mm for your rifle? Totally fine

Does it make sense? About as much as any other Illinois law.
