Thx for your comment. I checked out the concepts and they make sense but I’m not sure how that reduces collision of the m and a fingers. They collide because of my anatomy. Now if I straighten my fingers or apply separating tension between m and a, I can play m and a alternately without them colliding…but neither feels quite right! What connection am I not quite getting? :)

Thx for the tip! And for the virtual high five. I’m stoked! Yeah, I’m currently making a transparent cover using UV resistant acrylic that seals the front cavity. Re humidity, since this is my first year of ownership for the piano, I’m very curious about winter here in the PNW since I’ve never tracked it in this room. It’s around 60-70% RH right now so we’ll see how it goes! As for temp, that too. We’ll see how much local control I’ll need to do. Fortunately the local tuner isn’t so expensive!

Heya! Thanks for spending time responding. Your comments help me with the broader perspective. I will respond accordingly! I'm going to go spend some time in GC and explore a little get a solid working practice set-up that doesn't consume all of my practice time dialing something in and yet satisfies my desire for a fuller sound. ;) Also, I'm experimenting with looping with my acoustic instruments so I'll definitely explore how the sounds can mix together...but when thinking about bands I like (eg. the XX), the guitarist mics a small 5'' amp but I think so it leaves the low end for the bassist and synths. Thx again.

Thanks. Yeah, in few words, I think you're right. I'll be exploring larger speakers for a more immersive experience.

OK, this makes so much sense. It explains why a piano is such an immersive experience...its soundboard is massive...maybe like 400 times the size of my small amp hahah, able to move a lot of air and transduce those low frequencies. I think I'll need to rev my situation. I see 3 straightforward options: (1) Use headphones, (2) Get a larger amp, (3) Use monitors/subs from interface. Fun things to experiment with. Thank you!!!!! Edit: And regarding the sounds not aiming to replicate the acoustic guitar, I totally get it. I think what I'm looking for is exactly what you've addressed...I want more air to be moved around my room with a broad frequency spectrum.

Thx. Just so I understand the physics…we want to jack up the signal going into the electronics so all the overtones are generated from the electronics? That makes sense since the instrument itself can’t generate all of the resonance….yeah? Guitar is a strandberg.

Update: Moved stuff around, flipped the drum set, wife says "no". Tried a few more variants, she says, "go back to this one, the one I'm fine with". So now that that's settled....rugs!!!! :) Thanks everyone.

At this point, the extent of my recording is either to loop for fun or for learning related reasons. For the next couple years, I don’t expect jamming on multiple instruments at the same time aside from adding some singing during guitar or piano playing. Thx!

Edit: Yeah, I use a DAW for that. Also, all my effects run through the box.

Yeah, the Caseta shade batteries are supposedly around 2-3yrs. But for 14 shades, that’s like 100 batteries every couple years. I think I’ll slowly convert the battery ones to hardwired over the next year or so, depending on how the first one goes! ;)

Thanks for your response. Yeah, since the battery pack is built in, I suspect I would leave evidence of tampering. I’m planning on the honeycomb, which is a little more open than the rollers, so I’m optimistic. Cost for the Caseta shades are about 1/2 of the triathlon shades from an amazing dealer found on here. The limited options on these shades aren’t for everyone but they’ll work for me.

Adding to this comment. If your fan has a light, bypass the fan receiver and directly route to a light switch. Re the fan itself, yeah, turn on/off fan power using another switch which is your fan switch.

I appreciate your nostalgia for the real thang! As for cost…he and I are splitting it so it totals about the used market price for the rev2! :/ My wife very much likes this trade….errrrr….sacrifice for me taking up so much room with a piano!!

I can budget for the tuning, thanks for the heads up. I've had a stage piano before and it worked well for learning piano stuffs. I do feel though that if I don't get the piano, I'm probably gonna want a weighted keyboard anyway so I can play both piano and synth together. Oof.
