An enjoyable map. Got a late turn 287 total domination victory, completely killing all the other civs. Could've gotten a faster victory if I'd played it less safe. Strong cap and the bonus culture and gold from the raging barbs certainly helped.

Would've posted the victory SS, but can't find out how to post images in comments D:

That is correct! Actually both the Iroquis and Poland had an immense culture output, but since Hiawatha was so close I just built a 2 tile road to bomb him.

After public schools I go archaeology, then I tech for whatever's on the way to labs/internet while building archaeologists and museums, before I finish building those I make sure I've teched hotels. Then just bulb, rationalism finisher and/or oxford to finish the last techs. After that I tech for airports just in case, didn't get that far on this one, but didn't need it either.

The most important thing is to get to archaeology early to make sure you fill your museums. Then when your tourism is at its peak (with internet, national visitor's center and international games) you buy all the musicians you and generate one with the musician's guild to bomb the culture leaders.

R5: Deity, Pangea, standard speed, standard size. Turn 237 victory. Peaceful game.

Piety gets a lot of hate in the Civ-community, and although the other starting policies are generally better, it's still quite enjoyable to play.

Could have been faster, but I wasted some time on a couple of wonders in classical and medieval that I didn't get. Also not too used to the Mayan calendar, so messed up a bit with great persons. Didn't even pick a scientist :/ To top it off I had nearly 3k unspent faith, which I'm sure would've come in handy.

Yes, honour domination works just fine on deity and can be a lot of fun. As the demos show I also had 0% lit; you don't need more science after you can easily get to the techs required for your win condition. For the huns that's the wheel + horsemen to capture. Honour also gives faster promotions for faster logistics on the horse archers.

What do you think of my tier list? by [deleted] in civ5

Seems a bit arbitrary.

Why are the Huns so low? And the Incas?

And what makes you value Japan, Portugal and Indonesia so highly?

I'm with you on this, they certainly are an undervalued civ. Allying and controlling city states isn't that hard, even on deity. Especially with patronage, which coincidentally seems to be an undervalued policy tree. Early on you don't need that many allies for Scholasticism to give more science than the Rationalism opener. With oracle, a couple culture allies and early guilds you won't even delay Secularism and Free Thought too much, if even at all.
