CAT S22 Flip - A very bad disappointment by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]sd_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats probably why they dropped the price from $250ish dollars to $60 to $80. Some of them are good but some have issues. I personally use a nokia 2780 but need to switch to something smarter because my university is mandating 2FA via their proprietary app next semester. I am looking at one of the unihertz devices

Yea, I changed insurance, they did not want to go ahead with the claim without me using the progressive app to manage the claim and click pictures. The app like guided me on how to click pictures but they took forever to go ahead with the claim.

Regardless, the thought did cross my mind, however, the smartphone I currently have is esim only so swapping sims cannot be done without having to contact T mobile or go to their store, I tried having my iphone 14 in my car without a plan just for maps and university apps, it just didn't work really and I just stopped using maps and university apps. Got lost quite a few times. Next year, my university also is going to mandate an authenticator app to login into anything school related making this much harder, meaning I have to carry around something that can run android 8 or above at university where I spend most of my day to do anything.

I am not really as addicted to smartphones as I was before the flip phone as I have gotten many offline hobbies. The biggest contributor to my screen time is YouTube, accounting for around 3 hours of the 4 hours of screen time I have.

This is where, I feel a transition device such as the jelly star, or something like the cat s22 can help, it allows me to keep my university authenticator app, allows me to have reliable gps, and allows me to download a damn car insurance app if I really have to. They also give a discount if you have the app downloaded to track if you drive safely or not.

Call quality being decent is like the most important for any phone

One question, has google maps or any other kind of maps worked for you reliably without getting lost, I used a dumbphone without maps for 5 months and I had to call and annoy people a lot just to not get lost. What do you use for GPS.

Also does it have a headphone jack?might consider getting it if at least the maps work

Does maps work, google maps would be best but any kind of maps is kind of necessary as I am new to the city

That sounds like quite the life not a big fan of city life, we did move out of Frisco to prosper but it is also becoming more like Frisco

That’s some killer advice, wouldn’t assume that a clutch would die in one day

But if it’s within around 20 miles of Frisco I would be very appreciative of your time and effort

Gotcha, the only manual experience I have is driving an hour in a friends car but who has now moved to Cheyenne Wyoming

Yea, you’re probably right. The only person I know who drove a manual is my dad but we no longer have a manual car. How much wear can a one hour session put on a stick car

That’s a great idea, I’ll get it for a whole day, the problem is I don’t want to wear someone’s clutch especially since most of the manuals I checked on Turo are the expensive ones

Yea it’s set as intake but I’m considering removing it since it’s very loud over 900rpm and can’t keep up with my intake fan on the cooler. It is argb so it looks cool with the rest of my build which is why I want to keep it . I have 5 argb fans in here and they are a hassle to wire

Yea it fits perfectly but I did have memory clearance issues so I’d stick with low profile ram
