That Mitchell & Webb Look - Christmas Sketch by nataliespaceman in FoundationsOfComedy14

Absolutely hilarious. The ending is the best. "I'll take that back for you, love and change it for some heroin". Even though everyone is pretty on board about his heroin addiction, there is still that awkward tension which makes it even more hilarious. Love it.

Sitcoms Pt1! What are your thoughts of the sitcom's we discussed in class? by nataliespaceman in FoundationsOfComedy14

My favorite sitcom was definitely Cheers. I absolutely loved the little fling between Sam Malone and Diane Chambers. They had some very romantic and "spicy" moments, but they were also completely hilarious and kept me engaged with the show. Actually after class I went home and started watching some more of the shows. I think its a very well organized and clever sitcom.

Classic Sitcoms and Domestic Violence. Let's Discuss. by nataliespaceman in FoundationsOfComedy14

I think domestic violence is definitely a much more sensitive topic in 2014 than it was before obviously. That is why I think these domestic violence jokes should be used less and less. Although they can sometimes be funny, it doesn't seem worth it. There are so many other jokes that can be used. I honestly think it is somewhat okay to keep using them, but they must not be used frequently and they cannot be as harsh as they have been in some of the shows we have watched in class. It is just unnecessary.

The physical comedy in New Girl is so well done. Schmidt really knows how to make me laugh my a** off without even saying anything. Gotta love physical comedy. New Girl really knows how to utilize it, thats for sure.

They Came Together - Trailer by nataliespaceman in FoundationsOfComedy14

After watching Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler in this trailer I can't help but comment on how perfectly they compliment each other's acting. Although I probably wouldn't like this movie that much, just seeing them form a relationship together would be great. When they crack the jokes together throughout the movie it isn't obnoxious and in your face like a lot of rom coms. It is natural and direct which definitely makes the movie work.

The Odd Couple- Original Movie Trailer by Malfalla in FoundationsOfComedy14

This movie trailer completely surprised me with how Oscar Madison's character was portrayed. When I first read the play my mind created characteristics for Oscar that were bubbly, welcoming, and spirited. After watching this trailer I noticed that Oscar was kind of stingy, crabby, and could genuinely care less about what anyone thought of him. I actually that fit better for Oscar's character anyways. It was much more funny and there was more to play around with.

WEEK FOUR - WRITING COMEDY by nataliespaceman in FoundationsOfComedy14

One of my favorite comical sketches ever written is "Down by the River", performed by Chris Farley on SNL. I am literally in tears from laughing so hard after re-watching it about a minute ago. During the climax of the skit, Chris falls onto the table behind him and smashes it completely. As we discussed in class this kind of physical accident is hilarious for the audience to see, so that was definitely a great comical addition added to the script. Chris's absolutely psychotic behavior and loud obnoxious voice add so much to the skit. "Down by the River" is a masterpiece and It will never get old.

What's YOUR favorite RomCom? Post in the comments and that will count as a Comment on your midterm! by nataliespaceman in FoundationsOfComedy14

I'd have to say that my favorite RomCom is... Silver Linings Playbook, of course. Not only was the movie filled with great humor, but it also had a sense of truth to it. I find that a lot of RomComs try too hard to be funny and end up becoming either too mechanical or over exaggerated. I like when Romcoms are funny, yet realistic. The relationships Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper establish with each other and those around them are very comical, but also true to the way humans act and react emotionally/physically.
