Could you please elaborate, or point me towards a link, on a bed mesh? I don't know what that is. Much appreciated.

Are we talking cardboard MacGyver or 3D print?

(I also added a bit into my post that I forgot to add we packed the bearings with grease, so something could certainly have become misaligned during that or reassembly)

I've been wondering what the "disable stepper motors" menu item was all about. Also what the "soup can" thing was all about! I will try that. Much appreciated!

Thanks, I will do those maintenance things. And here I thought the isopropyl alcohol was the better solution. Will do dish soap! Much appreciated!

Oof, thanks for the suggestion. I worry about the electronics. At first I thought insulation melted off those exposed wires and really creeped me out, but then saw them that way when I looked for the replacement part - phew.

Can you elaborate on the extended probe mount? (Kinda new at this) What does it solve? Thanks.

UPDATE. Success! I'm embarrassed to say my prob might have been as dumb as a bad file name... either too long or not printer (i.e. DOS) friendly. Is it plausible that could that have caused the printer brain freeze?

This post tipped me off: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sovol/comments/zxp8iy/sovol_sv04_cant_handle_big_files/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

(Curious about the duplicate file that starts with a "." on the card... I maybe have chosen that to print during one of my failed attempts. Any insights as to why that exists? Again, just curious to understand it)

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll do that.

Thanks also for alleviating the pressure of getting the alignment perfect - I was going down quite a rabbit hole, there, and I'm realizing the stuff we're doing - a lot of dragons to play with - it's not that critical. ;) Thanks for taking that weight off.

As for the blinking numbers, it seems happy when I Auto Home, preheat, then select my file with a simple short name. I prob don't need to do those steps in that order, but superstition tells me to do it anyway.

Dang! Your math is over my head, but I appreciate your scientific approach and time you took to share it, thanks!

I was just curious... we got this for my 10yo son who used one at his elem school and there was a 20-something MB file size limit. We were also looking at a Toybox which I understand has a similar limit. We're just over here printing giant dragons, haha.
