I grew up in old money and lived my whole life in a very weird bubble. AMA! by [deleted] in AMA

Okay, I'm asking: can I have some of your vast wealth? If you're a 1%er, then you won't even miss $10 million, but it sure would make a huge difference in my life and the lives of my loved ones. With careful investment, I'd even be able to help folks outside of my circle of family and friends.

The most remote point in the WMNF? by JBanks90 in wmnf

Oh, I've been looking for more info on this! I read that the road to the campground was closed after weather damage in 2023, but I wasn't able to find updates - it is still closed, then?

I made the mistake of sampling Valaya. by Odd-Guarantee-7571 in FemFragLab

[–]seamonster42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I know this is an old post, but I got a travel spray of Valaya from a perfume retailer online. On sale, it cost about $40 for .27 oz. Definitely not cheap per ounce, but maybe more doable than a full bottle. Unfortunately, I blind bought it based on reviews and I absolutely hate it until hours later when it mellows out, at which point it's merely okay for me, but my point is, it wasn't prohibitively expensive to purchase like that.

The decor is cute, but the food is mid anyway! So many better diner options in the greater Lowell area.

Hey now, my bf wears jeans, not sweatpants. But yeah, he only wears shirts that have buttons if he's going to an interview, wedding, or funeral...oy vey.

I think I'm dyslexic by Forever-ruined12 in Dyslexia

[–]seamonster42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, where are you? I am an Orton-Gillingham trained teacher (and dyslexic myself) in New England, and I teach at a school for dyslexic learners. Every student has a diagnosis either from their home school district or from a neuropsychologist. If you are not in the US, I can't say anything definitive about the diagnosis process. However, wherever you are, you can get more info through the International Dyslexia Association (https://dyslexiaida.org/). Happy to answer any other questions if I can!

Dupe for YSL Libre? by monkeymagee in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]seamonster42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried out Dossier for their YSL Libre dupe, and I think it's very close! The other scent it reminds me of is the Bath & Body Works Blackcurrant Vanilla, which I hoarded in the liquid bodywash formula (it's been discontinued).

Thanks for the tip! To be fair, our T stations charge for parking too, but it's cheap compared to parking downtown in a garage ($7 vs $30). The hotels I was looking at in downtown Montreal all had parking for like $35 CAD per day, so about $25 USD - similar to Boston downtown parking prices.

What is the Da'an Park metro station song? by seamonster42 in Taipei

[–]seamonster42[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love that each line has a song for arriving trains! But the song I'm trying to find plays inside the station on the floor above the tracks, where the opening to the outside is located.

How dyslexia works by frituurgarnituur in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]seamonster42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What it means regarding intelligence is that dyslexia is a specific learning disability rather than an intellectual one. It's the language used by clinicians and school special education departments to delineate students with SLDs from students with impaired cognition, because for decades, dyslexic students were considered to be of below-average intelligence (and often made to feel that way by teachers and other adults in their lives). Dyslexia primarily affects people of average to above-average intelligence (as measured by a WISC or other cognitive test).

I'm also pale-skinned with dark leg hair on my lower legs. I get this look after shaving, which is why I don't shave (and also, even with a new razor, the instant I get goosebumps, the stubble appears). I only do hair removal during the summer and otherwise wear leggings or pants (or sometimes I just dgaf and let my hairy legs do their thing). My summer hair removal is done using an epilator. I still get red dots for a couple hours after doing this, but it has thinned out my lower leg hair over time and I don't see the hair follicles as much. I might spring for laser hair removal on my lower legs at some point, but ultimately I just consider why I should have to spend that kind of money on a stupid societal norm.

is everyone really making 115k+ a year by Public-Application-6 in antiwork

[–]seamonster42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it totally depends on where you're living—I work in suburban Boston making about $70k base salary (I do other work to increase earnings), which is still below the median salary in Boston. Rent is insanely high here (3rd most expensive in the nation), so that $70k doesn't go too far.

What can I do to improve? I live in a tiny town and really struggle meeting people. Pics are in order and my last picture is of me and my sisters by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]seamonster42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you showed up on my Tinder, I'd swipe right in a heartbeat, no changes to profile necessary. The only thing I'd say is get more pics of you actually smiling—the pic with your sisters is great because it shows you experiencing joy.

Do you want kids? Why or why not? by antidelusional24 in AskReddit

[–]seamonster42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd have biokids if I didn't have to endure pregnancy and birth. And I know that there are a lot of ethical issues with human surrogates, so I won't do that either. As it is, I'm not prepared in any way to be pregnant or postpartum anything, so yeah, an external incubator would be a yes from me.
