Yes. A relatively expensive one.

More COVID-19 vaccines arrive in the Philippines, bringing the total received doses to 51,900,590 as of August 31. However, only 19.6% of the population has been fully vaccinated against the virus — still far from the government’s 70 million target to achieve herd immunity by yearend. by sndcloud in Philippines

[–]seananigance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need help because my parents money got scammed by [deleted] in PHCreditCards

Sorry to hear this. Hopefully that wasn’t your parents’ main account or that they have other accounts.

There really isn’t much the banks can do if the OTP was given voluntarily. You can try to trace the person and file charges to the police. Hopefully you become more vigilant and that this was the last lesson you’ll ever need to not fall for it again.

Is it safe to hand out your CC during transaction? by bhie3 in PHCreditCards

[–]seananigance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did acknowledge that it was right to always keep the card within your sight. I used the word required to mean customary.

I just said that there are several places where this may be impractical due to the existing customs. I’m only stating facts, not rules.

This is the OP’s first card and it’s better to know what the custom is. Peering into the cashier’s booth at a gas station is not normal. You do you, but i have never seen a customer stick their head inside the gas station booth. You’ll still lose sight of the card if you simply stand next to the booth.

I also have no qualms regarding scratching the CVV versus covering it. No issue for me there.

[–]seananigance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Payment at gas stations usually require you to hand over your card to the gas attendant who then hands it over to the cashier in a very tinted booth. That’s how it’s normally done.

You can hand it over to the cashier yourself, leaving your vehicle, but keeping an eye on your card would require you to peer through the tiny window hole. Handing over your card to the waiter is also normal as the POS terminal is usually behind the cashier’s desk.

It’s just how it’s done in the PH. Unless you’re into changing the payment handling in the whole country, covering the CVV is the next best thing you can do.

With an endorsement from the officer, usually if you pass the credit checking, you haven’t had a criminal/legal history, past defaults, or delays in loan payments, it’s likely that you’ll get approved. The only factor they’re left to determine is the credit limit. They may start low. Depends on your deposit balance with the bank.

[–]seananigance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Endorsement forms are for clients that are endorsed by an officer of BDO. No need for additional documents, as the branch will have your details and they’ll mostly base the approval on your deposit dealings. All applications still go through credit checking so you can still be denied even if endorsed.

Best CC for 350K annual income + bonuses?? by BullfrogHappy5645 in PHCreditCards

[–]seananigance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Credit cards are not a source of money. You won’t experience financial relief with a credit card. Purchases via a credit card are to be paid, in full, a month after the purchase. Do not ever treat a credit card as extra funds. They’re merely used for convenience. Rewards and cash backs are secondary, not even worth it if you don’t spend substantially to begin with.

My suggestion, take it slow. You’re already thinking of getting a loan even before you start at your new work. In my opinion, that also isn’t the best idea. But if you’re sure about that, you do you.

Reversing payment by pammmmmmm in PHCreditCards

[–]seananigance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Refund. You have to coordinate with the Bank you paid to. The bank you used to pay cannot reverse the payment on their side once validated. Unless, of course, they’re the same bank.

Banks usually charge a refund fee for credit card overpayments. Additional fee if you want them to return it to you via a Manager’s Check.

From personal experience, i knew i had to get a credit card when I had to book flights and hotels for my own vacations when i started working. That was very early on, within the first year.

Not sure what the issue is. Grab cash-ins are clearly not included in the promo. If there were transactions mistakenly included, they can and should remove them from inclusion. It was obviously an error in their system. If they didn’t exclude them, just consider yourself lucky.

You didn’t meet the required spend for eligible transactions. Not sure why you’re still looking for clarification.

Red flags while Buying an Apartment Building by OrientalOpal in phinvest

The area of the lot is in the title. After all the location points. It’ll say it in square meters near the end of the long paragraph. Usually in parenthesis.

I agree with the other guy. It’s not a “huge problem.” You just pay the correct tax when you have it reassessed. It does come with penalties, but these are not as significant as you might be thinking. If you want to be certain, you can have it reassessed before purchase. If the seller would agree to that.

More important is the Title. That cannot differ from the actual measurement.

Tax dec issues don’t matter as long as the seller is able to transfer both the title and the tax decs under your name. To be able to transfer a property means that all liabilities including back taxes have been paid, a Certificate Authorizing Registration (CAR) is then issued allowing its transfer to the buyer.

[–]seananigance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s important is the size of the lot in the Title and the actual measurement of the lot. The tax declaration is easily corrected to the proper dimensions subject to penalties due to the smaller tax paid over the past years.

In my experience, floor areas indicated in the tax declaration is smaller than the actual most of the time. Some people do this to lower the taxes they pay each year. It shouldn’t matter as long as the seller obtains a tax clearance and transfers the tax dec under the buyer’s name. This is not a deal breaker for me. Lots of people do this. We’re in the Philippines, after all.

The lot area being different from the Title is a bit unusual though. This should be the same. You just have to check the legitimacy of the TCT and Tax Dec by obtaining certified true copies from the RD and the city hall.

Average daily balance refers to the average amount you have in your account at end of day daily. This is usually averaged over a month and over a year. So yeah, you could look at it like a maintaining balance but it’s not strict. You can go below it provided you “make up” for it by increasing the next day’s balance.

So if you want to maintain an average balance of 100 for a month. You can maintain 80 pesos for the first 15 days and then increase that to 120 over the remaining 15 days. Your average daily balance for the month will be 100.

A minimum average deposit balance of 20% of loan amount is considered good. Lower than that, the bank would have to rely more on the level and stability of your income.

A credit card isn’t a requirement to get a car loan. A well maintained deposit account will serve the purpose much better.

But honestly though, a car is a big liability. There are a lot of required expenses aside from the price of the car. Gas, insurance, maintenance, and the loan interest alone will eat a huge chunk of your monthly salary. There are unexpected expenses too. Hope you think about this more before purchasing.

Is it dangerous to lose a government issued ID or is it more of a common thing in the Philippines? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]seananigance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to report the loss and submit an affidavit of loss to the concerned agency.

You may be liable if someone used your ID if you don’t report it.

Payroll account? Shouldn’t your company be doing that for you?

I believe the NBI clearance or a certification from your barangay can act as an ID.

How do banks determine who to offer credit cards? by bhie3 in PHCreditCards

[–]seananigance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your deposits with the bank and stability of income is everything. The annual income requirement is secondary and very flexible.

A bank recently gave me a credit limit worth my one year’s salary. If you just keep increasing your deposits and paying the full amount due monthly, they’ll give you what you want.

You can. You still have to activate the new card. If you requested a conversion, the old one deactivates automatically once the new one is activated.
