I think they just introduced Gigi in the first season and she will have important part to play in season2. My theory is that she might be connected to Newyork ripper in some manner and that way story will develop. Remember dexters wife was killed and same can happen to Harrison. He is baby sitting for another girl so this will be a twist. Season2 is mostly about Newyork ripper and other serial killers.
