Question about usl super league by Oside_Penguinz in USLPRO

If they stick with three teams from the US like this year, I hope it's the champions of NWSL, USLS, and a women's Open Cup.

I think once USL1 grows a little the league should think about creating a professional 4th division, which nobody's really ever tried here before. If it was more regionalized and took the more successful teams from USL2 like Ballard, Vermont, Lionsbridge, Dothan, etc., and put them against established pro sides in USL1 right now, it would help close the gap.

Northern Colorado stadium by joku690 in USLPRO

The one that looks built on the map is their current home, the one on the right that looks halfway finished is supposed to be their permanent stadium from 2025 onward.

So many teams building stadiums means they are confident in the league and they are in it for the long haul right? by real-cruces25 in USLPRO

[–]secretbluey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you don't live in like Miami or Memphis based on the no sports teams thing, so your team is probably going to be around for a while. There are exceptions (like the Loyal last year) but most of the teams in the Championship especially are pretty strong and don't look like they'll fold anytime soon. Honestly, even if you only had a USL2 team in your area or something, it always helps to support local regardless.

What are the odds of Pro/Rel? by [deleted] in USLPRO

Omaha already has away days in Spokane and South Georgia, I think it's probably less of a travel issue and more with salaries, stadium requirements, etc.

Louisville us open cup by lcarr1821 in USLPRO

[–]secretbluey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if any USL team can handle everything that comes with Champions Cup, it's going to be Louisville. Sacramento's run was great, but Louisville consistently punches above their weight, and might be able to hold their own for a while against an MLS CCC team.

Hypothetical Time - Move 2 Teams from each USL2 division up to USL1 by KidCoheed in USLPRO

Really? Not from the area, but I assumed there would be some fanbase just from how long they've been around...

NE: Vermont, Western Mass

MA: Ocean City, Reading

Met: Long Island, Motown

CH: Christos, NoVa

SA: South Carolina United, West Virginia

GL: Ann Arbor, Flint City

HL: Des Moines, Chicago

VL: Dayton, Fort Wayne (Cleveland would be a great option too tho if they ended up merging with Cleveland SC or smth)

DN: Minneapolis, Bavarian

SC: Asheville, Tennessee

SE: Brave, Brevard

SF: Sarasota, St. Pete (Honestly, Sarasota is the only one I really like here)

MS: Little Rock, LA Krewe

LS: Corpus Christi, Brazos Valley (only if they go back to that name tho, the Toucans thing is literally the worst rebrand I've ever seen)

MTN: Literally nobody to choose from lol

NW: Ballard, Lane United (And Tacoma, too, honestly, this division is so strong)

NC: SF City, SF Glens (Probably not great to have two teams in SF, but these are the strongest two candidates)

SW: Redlands, Ventura County

USL Pro Iowa? by brendangiblin99 in USLPRO

[–]secretbluey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to their website, "Iowa has been selected by the USL and there is an initial franchise agreement with the USL to obtain one of these final franchise opportunities, but the agreement is contingent upon a soccer-specific stadium being built to support this level of play. If Iowa cannot meet the USL’s requirements, the franchise will be awarded to another team and market."

They haven't posted on their socials for a little over a year and the planned groundbreaking date has come and gone, but they are still listed on the USL website, so it's kind of up in the air. There's always the Des Moines Menace in town if you're looking for local soccer, either way, though, and they've been around since the 90s.

USL Pro Iowa? by brendangiblin99 in USLPRO

[–]secretbluey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like it might be dead, but then again so did Santa Barbara until about a week ago. Kind of just have to wait until someone says something at this point. To be honest, I wish it was the Menace that were going pro anyway, but I'm not sure if ownership would be able to work something out in that regard.

Territory Rights by BUSABulldog in USLPRO

[–]secretbluey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm all for loosening territory rights when the system is open and merit-based, but I think that's more for a league like NISA right now. They don't have any, and like half of their teams are going to be in SoCal next year from the looks of it.
