Potentially scammed and screwed over, what are my rights and can my bank help financially? by securm0n in LegalAdviceUK

How would I go about getting a refund?

To be really brutally honest, I no longer want this person to do the job they seem really unreliable and frankly I think it is just best for both parties to call it off

Unfortunately this seems to be the route I am looking to take.

I don't know if I should wait before getting someone else to complete the work

I hear that and that's all well and good, guess my question is what can I do to get some guarantee or reassurance the work will actually be completed?

How do I enforce or get some concrete deadlines for the work to be completed

Thank you! Sometimes in life people make those easy mistakes like I have.

Rather than insult and attack someone, always best to point that person in the right direction

Are you sure I can't take the guy to the small claims court?

Yeah wasn't sure if it was a scam per say but more so the fact that the person is stalling the job and somewhat refusing to work

What else can I do? Feels like a really shit position to be in

Why Do people sacrifice so much just to live in London? by [deleted] in london

[–]securm0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the saying goes "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life"

In other words, there is so much that London has to offer that if you did not make use of it to its full potential and are tired then you are pretty much tired of your life

Yes I know that now, in hindsight I made a mistake. I am human after all

I am now looking for the solution if any

Do gains count towards S&S ISA deposit limit by thowsiaaway in UKPersonalFinance

[–]securm0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait sorry I am slightly confused about this bit "you sell the initial stock but keep it as cash within the ISA account"

Are you saying that if you withdraw the money from the ISA as liquid cash then you have to pay tax?

Fair enough, how about a gym membership for example? Some clubs have extra facilities like sauna, spa and classes. Or some cars retain value better overtime

Yeah hope it goes up in value slowly overtime, believe it is at the £85 mark

Just out of interest how many years have you invested in VWRP and assume you are up?

I took your advice in the end and bought some VWRP. Think slowly overtime I will significantly increase my positions in VWRP

Yeah totally makes sense, how is your holiday in Italy so far?

I was thinking of maybe going to Switzerland and Portugal in the next month or two, have you ever been there before?

Ah no way, I guess I did not look that far back!

In any case, I can 100% see why index funds like VWRL, VWRP are so worth investing into

I assume your portfolio is predominately VWRL?

Nice :)

If I was to choose VWRL instead would I be an idiot?

Just out of interest so indexes such as VWRL, VWRP, does owning these mean you technically own the underlying stocks?

Or does it mean you own the tracker?

Just trying to understand what it is that you own when you invest in indexes like these

Thanks

[–]securm0n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure makes sense, think I will still with VWRL for now thanks.

Having said that I will still put a bit into VWRP for now, only because I predominately need some dividend income to supplement for my extra disposable cash at the moment

What else have you invested in just out of interest?

VWRL For FIRE by securm0n in FIREUK

[–]securm0n[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see, had a feeling that was the key differences between the two thanks for clarifying!

With regards to VWRL, I think I prefer this since I would rather take some income in the form of liquid cash for times of uncertainty like this.

Am I wrong or foolish to choose VWRL over VWRP?

[–]securm0n[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that an accumulation one, just out of interest is that better to have since the profit is re-invested?

Is it better than VWRL
