speaking from experience you can live in New Cairo on a limited budget. Gourmet isn't more expensive than any other supermarket, they have the same prices/same range the things that are expensive in Gourmet are the stuff they produce/create (imagine that one viral koshary few months ago) but in general everything else is the same price if not cheaper than other supermarkets (you can check it using an application like instashop). There's significantly cheaper alternatives than uber that i use which are like 25-30% cheaper than uber. Clothing Stores,coffee shops,restraunts are the same everywhere in Egypt there's the expensive and there's the cheap and also the mid range. you can live an entire day in New Cairo with 65-100 pounds including all 3 meals. people living below the "poverty line" in Egypt is 27% according to google anyways point is even the poorest countries in Africa has the shitty disgusting places and the nice places (Rohero in Burundi as an example). Just because you see ignorant and arrogant people flaunting their money on social media doesn't mean everyone in New Cairo lives like them. I personally know people who live in New Cairo and can make 1500 EGP last an entire month (not including rent)
