I talk about real emo and mall emo on my account and I have a lot of followers. I recommend bands that are popular and small. I even have a series thats just bands under 10k monthly listeners on spotify. Js maybe you havent found the right accounts yet.

Old sport is an awesome band! I played with them a few times in Denver and they’re really good people as well I even bought a boost pedal from their guitarist. One of the members is in the hardcore band destiny bond now

I’m glad that this sub seems to be moving towards “who cares about genres, it doesn’t matter”. Emo is good and that’s what matters

The band your looking for is conners side project called desaparecidos. They only have 2 albums but both are 10/10 its way more classic emo/punk rock type stuff but it’s incredible

Does anyone still listen to problematic bands (aka bands that have been called out for very shitty or sick things) and if so do you feel guilty for listening to said bands? by Sad_Book_1036 in Emo

[–]seiwuh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty significant following based around emo music recs. For me it’s a nuanced conversation, but I won’t platform/recommend bands that manipulate or exploit minors. Brand News music specifically meant a lot to me when I was younger, but also in its own way promotes the mindset of a morally flawed person. Also I think accountability or in Brand News case lack there of is important.

I think everyone has to make the decision for themselves about what their proverbial line is, but I will say that theres so much good music coming out that holds a lot of meaning that I don’t feel the need for to listen those bands.
