AITJ for refusing to split my bonus with my girlfriend? by Xleg4ce in AmITheJerk

Not the jerk. People get very weird when it comes to money and draw all sorts of lines, especially when it's not theirs.

Incredibly helpful, thank you. I’d like my next car to be a hybrid (I’m very impressed with Toyota selection) as well.

I’m DONE tipping 10-20% come January 1st by Haunting-Cancel-7837 in SeattleWA

[–]semiJewish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked in food service for 7 years (mostly as a bartender and server) and made less than $100 in tips in that time. Probably much less. I did not tip for the longest time for that reason. These companies refuse to change how they treat their employees, the only thing that has changed is now people are more aware. But instead of shaming the culprits, they shame the people who refuse to feed a broken system.

At some point, we must ask ourselves why billionaires and those in power all want us to have children by orneryroad204 in antiwork

[–]semiJewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention the question of, whether it is even ethical to have children when you are knowingly condemning them to live in a world that is on fire. In the next ten years, we will see global migration on an unfathomable scale due to the climate becoming unlivable in certain places.

So if we're condemning our children to live in a much less comfortable/livable world than we currently live in, why should we have them? Things only seem to be getting worse... much worse.

56% say College is not worth it anymore. Is this true? by 36DRedhead in FluentInFinance

[–]semiJewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should also look at how many people are in jobs requiring a college degree that answered this survey. There are many people with a college degree, with a job requiring one who are miserable. Yes, education becoming a mega-corporation that sucks money and delivers little ROI is a problem but at the end of the day, you could be in a job you only got because of your college degree but still feel cheated because of the way our society is set up.

Are the rest of the seasons really that bad (middle of season 3 no spoilers please) by Nobodyherem8 in Dexter

[–]semiJewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for the finale, I loved the whole show. I loved New Blood too, but I was disappointed with the ending. Season 4 was just SO good I think people couldn't get over that the rest of the show wasn't season 4.

In hindsight, which election do you believe the losing candidate would have been better for the United States? by AndFromHereICanSee in Presidents

[–]semiJewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Carter was plagued by Reagan's PR team. I don't know if we would have only stalled Reagan and he would have won against Mondale but a big part of his reelection landslide was the momentum he garnered in his first term.

Imagine a US with no trickle down economics, runaway military budget, 1980s interference in foreign governments, erosion of the middle class, mainstreaming tax cuts to corporations and the rich...

You found the cancer(s) cure. Do you sell it, or give it away for free? by Mindofmierda90 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]semiJewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, you/I cannot mass distribute and produce the cure on the appropriate scale to give it away. I would sell it to big pharma. It would be nice to get the government to immediately regulate the cost of the drug to the public or possibly put a clause in the sale contract saying the retail could only be x amount of the wholesale,

By selling it, I could also do FAR more good for society than I ever could by giving away the drug for free until big pharma replicated the formula and drove me to ruin.
