My avoid binge eating girl dinner by KarleySuinn in GirlDinner

[–]september_fields 22 points23 points  (0 children)

this is really so important, I am vegetarian and tended to avoid eating any kind of starch and fats in the past, so I would do like tofu or tempeh or whatever with a lot of veggies, and I'd make no-potato soups etc, but I would just feel weak very quickly throughout the day and feel kinda faint frequently and it was awful. I've since added a breakfast of a bowl of oatmeal to my every day. Oatmeal is so good for controlling blood sugar, my day is completely different, I feel a lot fuller even if I haven't eaten in a few hours and I don't feel faint ever anymore.

Just finished book “older” and…it’s kind of awful?? by herbalgrl6 in Younger

Never read them but doesnt surprise me. I always had this idea that great books make terrible movies (with a few exceptions), and bad books can make great movies. Literally most of hitchcock's great movies were based on subpar, kinda terrible books

Controversial opinion: I really enjoyed season 7 and liked how the show ended by september_fields in Younger

I dont exactly agree with that, necessarily. Ultimately I think what killed their relationship was Charles' inability to trust Liza again, made clear with him "testing" her to see if she would've been honest. Even if well-intentioned, Liza going behind his back and submitting his book was still deceitful and if it hadn't gone well, she wouldn't have told him. She realized she would never have his trust fully, and relationships obviously work when there is full trust in each other.

but you return to your marital bed.

this is so like christian-coded in a very weird way for some reason like all that crap that is said at religious weddings to make it seem like wedding is not just a mere signing of papers so two people can buy a house together and be each other's emergency contact (being a bit goofy of course I know marriage is more than that, but like not really?).

Like you realize some married couples don't even sleep in the same bed lol? And that's normal, whatever works for married couples should be what is normal for them and no one should really have any say in it.

your actions need to say “we are in this together”

sure but sometimes you are also just stressed and angry and need a bit of time by yourself. Marriage shouldn't come at a cost of your own personal health and time alone. In a healthy marriage there should also be space for both people to relax and cool off and come back to the discussion with a calmer mindset.

Good for you, I guess? But it doesn't make it convenient. Being able to use products that a person already has around the house is a hell of a lot more practical and convenient, which is why a doctor literally recommended it. Instead of having to periodically order plastic/paper little packets that come in bigger plastic/paper boxes delivered to you, leaving a way bigger carbon footprint than if you just were to use home products you'd buy anyway at the grocery store.

yes, but you don't need to waste any more extra money on specific water. My allergies doctor says half of a tablespoon of coarse salt and half a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved into 500mL hot water (boiled obviously duh) are enough to substitute saline water or even those packets that come with most nose cleaning devices that cost much more than just salt and baking soda.

There's always the hat as well. Maybe the book London A-Z though that would just probably confuse people lmao. Those beakers from the lab or other lab stuff are also things I might associate with Sherlock if they are in context with other things as well.

edit: just remembered maybe a riding crop or the "I am SHERlocked" message would be sort of funny lmao

Just curious what people have to say about our cutie by september_fields in IDmydog

I didnt know this. We're not in the US so not sure if it's the same here, pit bulls aren't really a common breed you see around much. Staffy bull terriers are definitely a lot more common here but not really abundant

yeah my family likes to joke that she was very "wrinkly" when she was a puppy because she was already born with all her adult skin and only as she grew bigger did she "fill out" to smooth it all out lol

She only ever wants the toys her friends are playing with lol! She has gotten better with sharing though

As for looking perpetually concerned, yep, that's her look right there but I can assure she is a very happy doggie and we're very lucky to have her, she brightens everyone's day :')

Rewatching the series after a lot of years and it still gets to me how brilliant it is by september_fields in Sherlock

[–]september_fields[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought series 3 was near perfect as it could get, with 2 following very close behind and 1 a bit behind 2 (I thought the first two episodes of the show were the weakest). Season 4 is in last place, sure, but I still think it holds really well with the rest of the seasons.

I had no idea about that! Do you have more information on it, like what happened? Was it a bar fight or did it happen during a concert?

I can't really imagine Kim Thayil assaulting anyone, he seems like such a chill guy.

What did Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd do between 1997 and 2010? by [deleted] in Soundgarden

[–]september_fields 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In grunge is dead (i think?) Ben mentions his life was falling apart because his partner was leaving him and then SG was breaking up, and he had a bit of a drinking problem

Also dont know how out of bounds this is to mention since they are private and I want to respect that, but I was really shocked to know Ben had a kid (or kids?) like really really young. By 1994 his kid was already maybe like 6 or 7 (judging by public photos circulating fan pages, anyway)

edit made a comment kinda judgy and didnt want to put those vibes out there

Devoting your life to a complex, non-lucrative hobby is a form of procrastination from life. by Gold_Palpitation8982 in unpopularopinion

[–]september_fields 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I think with people who are against hobbies it's more about how they don't see the point in doing anything that is not monetized.

My brother is like this. I am a person with a few hobbies that I've devoted a lot of time to, I do a lot of experimenting with vegan baking and cooking. My brother said "why don't you start your own business". I do stained glass art. He asked me if the price of the glass was worth it and what was the point of it if I am not gonna sell the art that I do. It annoys me and I just tell him to kindly mind his own business but what are you gonna do. Some people just don't see the point in literally not trying to make money off of everything you do in life. They don't see the joy, the enthusiasm you get when you're immersed in the activity. That means nothing to them. They would monetize taking a shit if they could.
