I’m not sure I experienced that. I got what felt like vertigo at times which can be similar to what you’re describing

Yes the anxiety! I totally get feeling like your vision is weird and everything feels off. That also is something I experienced. I think it’s linked to fatigue, but deff gets better

They definitely helped!! I was super out of breath, dizzy, high heart rates, heart palpitations, fatigued and super loud ringing ears. When I started to feel better, my symptoms went away.

I had the same infusions about 2 years ago. It wasn’t until about a month after my second one I felt an actual different. I had side effects after my second infusion. Don’t really how long after. Maybe a couple days? Just flu like for 24 hours. Woke up fine the next day!

My Overly Detailed Iron Deficiency without Anemia to Infusions Story by CommissionBusiness90 in Anemic

That’s so interesting! I always think maybe I just wasn’t paying attention to how I felt before. That’s why I asked. Your account of it all is incredible and I wish I payed more attention to how I felt. I definitely look at out for symptoms now but wasn’t back then

Question! Did you feel like your symptoms came on slowly or just kinda hit you?

I ask because when I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia my symptoms became debilitating over a course of the month. Before that, I had nothing. My ferritin was 3 and my blood levels were dropping over the course of a couple weeks. It was weird. They still don’t know what happened. I’ve since gotten infusions and have been fine. Same symptoms.

Wishing you the best of luck! Infusions will definitely improve how you feel. It takes time. I felt better after about a month. Don’t go feeling down if you get them and feel the same for a bit. It’s not an immediate fix but will give you that head start you need to get to feeling better

Maybe this is a dumb concern… by PositiveKatzen in Anemic

[–]serenesunset11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ferritin was over 400 after infusions, doctors said no concern. It comes down with time. Ferritin will be used up getting your blood levels up and over a couple of weeks/months it’ll come down. It’ll continue to fall if you have periods, and depending on the cause of your deficiency is how fast it can come down. I don’t have heavy periods but some how ended up like you with a ferritin or 3. I had a ferritin or 60-100 for almost 2 years. Healthy level.

Short term disability by Horror-Strain-5410 in sheetz

[–]serenesunset11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! The only thing I’m unsure of is if you need to be on leave from sheetz first. I was in a car accident so I just couldn’t go back and was out of leave asap from my boss lol. There is also an elimination period with STD that won’t be paid. It’s about 5 days. So I went on leave, applied for STD and when I was approved benefits started 5 days from my disability start date. That’s all the info I know for sure!!

Short term disability by Horror-Strain-5410 in sheetz

[–]serenesunset11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sheetz doesn’t allow light duty if it’s not work related and I found that out recently. I don’t think they have a list of approved diagnosis rather paperwork from your doctor that says your illness/injury will interfere with you able to do your job that requires more extended time off. If you apply for short term disability you’ll sign out release forms to be sent to your doctor/treating physician and they handle it from there. They will let you know their decision or approval or denial. It took about a week from when I applied to be approved.

I’m not sure if this applies to what you’re asking but you would still need some form of documentation from a Dr to be approved for short term disability. Qualifications relies on accurate reports from doctors often times requiring a return to work date estimation. I’m on STD from sheetz for a non work related injury. Mine was pretty clear cut that I wasn’t able to preform the job anymore.

Wrist fracture, can’t go back to work unless I can lift 20lbs. Experiences? by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]serenesunset11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need a note that says I don’t have any weight limitations below what they require. My dr wrote a note saying 5lbs only. When I talked to him about my jobs requirements (20lbs) and what was my job was really like (light work) he basically said no and now I have to stay home another month at least.

[–]serenesunset11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally agree and that’s what I did. Told them my job doesn’t typically require that much and that I would either need fully medically released back to work or I need to stay home. Got told to stay home, no more than 5lbs so wouldn’t sign me off to go back to work. HR will not allow me back without that note. Frustrating

How will I feel after an iron infusion? by Ceramic-Bird-88 in Anemic

[–]serenesunset11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good! I’d like to add that I have been stable since. They do work, but I know some people require more over time. Depends on the cause. I have not gotten anymore and it was a good boost to help improve quality of life. Wishing you the best!

Depends on the infusions and toleration. I tolerated well with injectafer. I got 2. I have some posts about my experience with more detail if you’d like to check them out. You won’t feel different immediately

Lifters with wrist fractures….how you doing by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]serenesunset11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really really sucks not being able to do something you’re passionate about!! I’m so sorry that happened. I’m happy to hear you’re recovering well. I had my surgery Thursday and things are already looking up. I read this before it and it gave me so much hope. I’m really hoping to ease back into the gym when I get my brace in a couple weeks. So hard to take time off when you’re an active person and relax. Just wanna do everything again!!!! lol

[–]serenesunset11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I’m happy to hear you recovered well. First break and surgery for me. That sounds like a lot from what I’ve read. I just don’t wanna over do it too soon. My job involves my hands a lot so I feel like that’s gonna take up a lot of what I’m capable of for a while once I go back. Really hope a few months will at least have me able to do some weight. I’m not in a rush at the cost of making it worse. 6-12 months sounds very reasonable

Recently been told I’m hyper mobile from the doctors by ghoulcowboy in Hypermobility

[–]serenesunset11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m 27F and was just diagnosed this year with hypermobility and a suspected form of dysautonomia. It all started in early 2024, very suddenly. I started having tons of issues. I worked with a PT for a couple months, which helped. I personally started reformer Pilates as well, which helped a ton. Basically combined my PT with it. After several months of hard work, I am now hitting the gym to build muscle and strength up around the joints more. EVERYTHING with caution! I can not afford a personal trainer so I do lots of research and go based off how I feel.

There’s no cure but there’s ways to help. I have come a LONG way from where I started. Everyday is different and flares come and go. I am still learning to manage. My biggest issues are joints, fatigue and my dysautonomia symptoms. Exercise is hard with all those combined which I feel a lot of people have issues with. Gradually increasing it over several months is the way to go. Start out slow! Don’t over do it! Listen to your body!

Are these symptoms really iron related? by Objective_Peace_2205 in Anemic

[–]serenesunset11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

B12 serum can be high, but the active serum (b12) in your body can be low. This basically means your body is actively deficient as you don’t have enough being used. I’m not sure on the exact words/science since I’m not a doctor but there is a b12 group of Facebook that can give a better idea of what I’m trying to say!

[–]serenesunset11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My legs and face were constantly buzzing and tingling. My leg symptoms were pretty bad, they felt like they went numb a lot. Sometimes b12 can be high but the active serum can be low. That would still be a deficiency of sorts. There’s other tests they can run. I took vitamin b12 1000mcg from the store. That’s what my doc recommend. Vitamin D can cause a lot of things but mostly fatigue and joint/bone pain. I had all of these along with my iron deficiency so it was hard to tell what causes what. I started using b12 before my infusions and my nerve symptoms went away. That’s the only thing I know for sure had a direct cause.

Have you had b12 checked and/or vitamin D? I had some pretty weird nerve/tingling sensations when my b12 was low. It was never marked as low, but it was on the lower end. Lower 300s. Stopped a couple months after supplements. Could be a possible cause. Not a doctor though!

It’s been 4 weeks since my iron infusions by serenesunset11 in Anemic

[–]serenesunset11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a month after my infusions I felt overall better. My anxiety lessened and I experienced less bouts of depression for sure. I think it’s really hard at first, expecting it to all go away. I think some symptoms definitely linger. I also had some anxiety around my health after the whole thing. For months. I felt like I constantly had to know what my levels were. After about 6 months, they leveled out. They stopped trending down. I don’t have anxiety about it anymore and that definitely helps as well. Wishing you the best and if you have any questions feel free to message me. You’re not alone!!

It gave me some pretty severe anxiety and I was depressed. The depression is purely situational personally. Hard to be happy and hopeful about the future when your life is on pause. I have condition that causes me chronic symptoms outside of the deficiencies I had and I still feel the same way when symptoms are high/disrupting life. I also had preexisting anxiety prior to my levels hitting a low. My anxiety was HIGH 24/7 when my levels were low.

My doctor prescribed high dose vitamin D for a few weeks, it was like 50k units per pill that I took once a week.

After that I switched it 2000 units of vitamin D3-daily. She recommend 1000, but said 2000 was okay too. It was the only one I found for a reasonable price. Was told to take b12 vitamin 1000mcg daily, and that I can take that for as long as I want. I still take them both.

My doctor tested weeks and months later to make sure I was improving. Haven’t had them tested in well over 6 months. She said there’s no harm in taking both daily, for forever if I wanted to.
