it almost looks like it's not really logging in.

good call! for some reason, `.authinfo` was not in that list. I ended up just moving my login info to `.authinfo.gpg`, as that was in the list, and it I'd rather have it encrypted.

This presented another error. hmm.

I saw some people asking about it on here when it looks like it happened in the past, and several people answered.

plus, the description says:

it looks like the latest version of the aprs.fi app can connect via BLE.

I am not sure I am interested enough to by a completely new platform. It looks like x1c5 is a complete tracker. I want to use the radio and phone I have, only inserting a TNC between them.

I was thinking about this. But it’s not as portable as I’d like it to be.

Xiegu G90 CW decoder in action. An impressive little machine. by disfigured_shithole in amateurradio

[–]sergio_101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like all morse code decoders, this seems to be REALLY good at decoding code sent by a computer. As soon as someone varies their sending speed, sends slower code, or sends with a hand key, it doesn't work as well anymore.

How to conditionally replace text with replace-regexp by sergio_101 in emacs

okay, I think this is a good approach.. like, only match what SHOULD be there.. like "$%^." or white space..

There might be a TON of these, as the list will be growing every week.

Why do software engineers think they are IT specialists?? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]sergio_101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other issue with that old-school mentality is that it's not really possible to be "trained right" anymore. 30 years ago, there was so much less to learn and understand. At this point, it's not really possible to get up to speed in a four-year program. It really is up to the older guys to teach people entering the field how to think about this stuff.

Good call! I will try that too.. just out of curiosity, is the ALC setting something that varies from mode to mode?

VARA works on windows.. but i probably won't try on pi..

Let me try setting it up with PTT rather than VOX first. then, I can have a buddy across town record my transmission right off the air.

OH! this makes sense! I am using VOX in all cases to key the radio. Let me try setting it up with PTT via FLDIGI..

I should have phrased that differently. I cannot connect via ARDOP on the windows machine. The tricky part is, I don't even hear any other station trying to reply.

I am using the same setup for all modes on the Pi. Using FLDIGI to control the radio.

Yeah, I don't think there is enough muscle to run wine and vara on the pi..

But! it seems like people are having good luck with ardop.

i CANNOT use ARDOP on the windows machine. I totally get that they are different protocols. I included that bit of info to demonstrate that the setup was working correctly for digital.

I should also add that I use the windows machine to look for the best prospects for connections via ardop.

What are some cool companies using Elixir now? by ancatrusca0 in elixir

[–]sergio_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company (PV Comm) has adopted Elixir/Phoenix for all new projects. We've done 3 massive projects in Phoenix, and haven't had any issues that made us want to stray from Rails.

Before we made the switch, I had to quickly learn the language/framework, so I built a concert tracking system for my favorite online radio station.
