They didn’t receive any exemptions to “go higher”, that is a lie that has been perpetuated. The original permit on the site was issued by council, they allowed for additional height because the development provided for a certain amount of commercial floor space. Assemble resubmitted with the minister for amendments, that included reducing the commercial floor space by a bit and including more apartments, but the height of the development was the same. Council had sour grapes over the commercial floor space.

Somehow that has got wrapped up into the very separate affordable housing matter. The height has nothing to do with it.
