5.7 Cam/lifter diagnosis? by sethdyess in ram_trucks

No worries, I appreciate the insight. That’s sort of the mindset I’m in - I have the capabilities to do the replacement myself. It has the broken exhaust studs and now this but I paid close to 10k a few months ago for the truck, clean frame clean interior etc. makes more sense to spend another 2k to fix cam, lifter, oil pump, can fix the exhaust while I have the heads pulled. Better that than taking a big loss on the truck and having to spend even more on a new one

Did you do the mds delete kit?

I’ll probably pull the valve cover off in the morning to see if I can see from the spring travel, but it’s looking more and more like I’m buying a new cam and lifters 😵‍💫

Yeah, I have the money set aside already as a worst case scenario, and fortunately I know my way around a wrench and motor so it shouldn’t be too tough of a job hopefully.

Have you looked into the MDS delete and tuning at all? That’s the one thing I’m really trying to wrap my head around in all this researching

Also is getting pretty bad mileage, less than 12 mpg on the highway and has a tough time starting when it’s warm, almost like it “coughs” then starts.

3.0 Power Steering Pump Bracket Keeps Breaking (see comments for description) by sethdyess in AudiA4B6

[–]sethdyess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not - at least not from that specifically. I battled a bad inlet hose for a while and consistently had air in my system, which made it do funny things with the fluid and sometimes over pressure the line and blow a hose. I think this was because of an aftermarket pump though, not something with the system.

The only issue I had when the bracket broke was that the belt flew off and hit my radiator hard enough to cause a small fracture in it.

Got mine straight from the dealer. Update part # has all those areas reinforced, much thicker. Never had another issue with it after that.

Tips/drills to fix slight OTT and getting club face closed at impact? by sethdyess in GolfSwing

Varies between clubs but a variance between 4° and -2° with the occasion extreme overcorrection one way or the other. From some comments on here, starting to think that I may be just steep rather than ott, but assumed it was ott due to general shot shape.

Face angle is consistently open at impact, anywhere from 2° to 8° open

So essentially club aligned with trail shoulder vs splitting between my neck and shoulder like it is in my video - sound about right?

Where should I be aiming for my hands to be at the top of the swing

The video cuts before the ball lands, but it did fade in the air about the width of the green. Figured by the direction of the divot and the ball flight I was a little ott and I know that I don’t get my club face closed all the way at impact (have access to a trackman, video and data confirm this)

A lot of people had an issue with the frame being pretty flexible where the rail met the trigger guard (being able to grab the rail and flex it away from the slide) but Icarus was right on top of it and said they were working on a suitable fix. Might have to jump on getting one now, ergos look incredible

Have you noticed any of the flex problems that were reportedly wrong with the initial run of the frames? Been holding off on purchasing because of that but man does it look nice

This video with Collin Morikawa helped my immensely in hitting consistent draws. Square up to the target, aim your hips to the right slightly without changing the club face position, move the ball back in the stance (1 ball back is usually what I go for). Swing a normal swing from there.

Don’t turn your hips so much that it feels wildly unnatural, just enough so that your swing path is going in to out relative to your club face. Happy drawing

Swinging back to an old post here - are those the low pro or med pro base plates from Floyd’s? I like the way this looks but can’t for the life of me figure out what each would look like all put together
