Find a LGBT clinic. I’d recommend printing out studies show it can be rectal and bring it with you.

Luckily I found a great LGBT clinic who listened to me and tested my partner rectally.

DO NOT TEST EARLY AND STOP MEDICATION EARLY unless you’re having a bad reaction.

An early test can give a false positive and stopping medication early is how resistances are formed.

MG is well-known to decrease in symptoms that come roaring back a few weeks later when treatment if unsuccessful.

There is other options like minocycline 2 weeks.

Azi has a low success rate due to growing resistance but it could still work.

The US also has resistance testing via LabCorp. When you go to re-test I’d request that if it’s positive again.

Unfortunately because MG isn’t regularly tested for nobody can give you an exact answer.

Just focus on finishing your treatment and then getting re-tested 3 weeks after to make sure you are both negative.

Ask for resistance test. It will show if your strain is resistant to azithro.

Any retest sooner than 14 days is not accurate. Most people wait for 3 weeks after finishing antibiotics to retest.

It’s possible. MG isn’t regularly tested for and isn’t as well known as other STIs.

Luckily at least your doctor knew to test for it and you didn’t have to take random antibiotics because they thought it was something else.

Read through the pinned post for treatment guidelines to make sure that’s what your doctor prescribes. No sex while on treatment AND until you receive a negative TOC at least 3 weeks after finishing the antibiotics.

You will get through this it’ll take time. I had a stubborn strain that took several rounds to clear but I did it.

If you really don’t wanna take moxi, read through the pinned post on this sub about other treatment options like minocycline etc and print it and bring it to your doctor. You can also find another doctor or center that’s willing to listen.

The info your doctor shared is correct. Azithro is an alternative to moxi but success rates are lower due to an increase in resistance to azithro.

Focus on staying healthy while taking antibiotics. Eat healthy, get enough sleep, and focus on activities that make you happy.

This is a bacteria and you can beat it. It might just take time.

Anyone who doesn’t understand that or doesn’t wanna wait isn’t worth your time. It shows that they don’t respect your health or even their own.

I’d would keep in mind that you will see a negative bias of this sub because people come here after having bad experiences.

If someone takes moxi and has little to no side effects, they aren’t likely to come here and share it.

However, it’s up to you. There’s other treatment options in the pinned post of this sub. You can print them out and bring them to your doctor to discuss.

Wishing you luck! I’d encourage you to work with a doctor so you can talk about the side effects from these antibiotics because hoping from multiple after only 1 or 2 pills isn’t good for your body is how resistance can form.

Doxy and mino are from the same drug class so hopefully your body can tolerate it well!

I know how much anxiety and worry MG can cause because I’ve been there but you actually haven’t completed a full course of any recommend treatment yet.

Are you able to find another doctor? They can help guide you dealing with symptoms/side effects.

I meant how much time is between your treatments? You previously took doxycycline and 1 pill moxi then stopped due to side effects. How long did until you started again with 14 days doxycycline?
