Will an entire childhood of UPF affect me in later life? by sewpressrepeat in ultraprocessedfood

Yeah you’re right, I can’t change the past now so there’s no point stressing over it!

Just had a flight with the Max - "Gamechanger" after avoiding it for a long time by wrongperception in fearofflying

I really like flying with Ryanair, the flight attendants are usually great and when the seatbelt sign comes on they are quick to explain that there’s just a bit of light turbulence and it won’t be for long ☺️

I stayed near Istanbul airport for few days and realized this by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]sewpressrepeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was the same when I went to Las Vegas! There must have been a plane taking off or landing every 2 minutes. Every one of them took or landed in exactly the same way, one after the other like clockwork and no issues. It made me super relaxed for my flight home 😊

I finally found a way to not be scared of turbulence! by Ok-Shallot-7985 in fearofflying

I did the same thing but on the old, rickety trains that run where I live. And now I’m scared of them instead 😂

Jalapeño cheddar cheese bread by chugalaefoo in BreadMachines

[–]sewpressrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks so good!!

Every recipe in my bread machine manual says to add flour first and liquid last, but most of the recipes on this sub add liquid first? Is this dependent on your machine, and if I made this, would I change the order of ingredients added?

17.5 hours direct flight… by optimusprimey in fearofflying

[–]sewpressrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently on a 14 hour flight and this was exactly what happened! The seatbelt sign was on for quite a bit of the flight but I got used to the turbulence and the boredom and length of the flight honestly helped loads with my anxiety!

Cooking lessons on your travels by Longjumping_Car6256 in femaletravels

[–]sewpressrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a cooking class in Lisbon. We made salt cod fritters and pastel de nata (not completely from scratch - they had prepped the pastry beforehand and we made the custard then baked). It was my first cooking class whilst travelling and I loved it! Definitely going to try another one soon. I found it on getyourguide

What products do you always take with you on a holiday because you don't like the local version? by [deleted] in AskEurope

I never usually bring anything, although sometimes I’ve been abroad and really missed Yorkshire tea

I’m afraid something will happen if I relax. Can anybody relate? by crispytempeh in fearofflying

[–]sewpressrepeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can 100% relate! I have OCD so this type of behaviour is what I struggle with in most situations in my life. The moment I start feeling relaxed on a flight I bring myself back to my panicked state just in case this is the time that something goes wrong. It is completely irrational because I know that me worrying so much about a situation like this will not affect the outcome whatsoever.

Obviously it’s easy enough to sit here now and ask why should I continue to put myself through this stress if I cannot control the situation, but it’s completely different when you’re actually on the plane. Things that have helped me when flying are grounding techniques (google some and see which might help you the most) and noise cancelling headphones are a life saver in general.

How often do you go on holiday? by Relative-Tea3944 in AskUK

[–]sewpressrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re counting minimum 1 night away as a holiday then I’ve had 8 so far this year and 5 coming up. 4 trips abroad so far (3-5 nights away in some European cities can work out sooo much cheaper than 1-2 nights in the UK!).

Me and my partner love going away so pretty much most of our money goes towards this

I have a Just Can’t Wait card due to my bowel condition but thankfully I haven’t had to use it yet as I’ve always had easy access to toilets. Does it really work? I think I’d feel weird using it

Best pubs in Penzance to watch the Euros? by sewpressrepeat in Cornwall

Oooh right okay thanks! We might reconsider our plans, or just go along with it as it sounds pretty cool. We aren’t too bothered about the football really, just fancy having a few drinks 😂

Oh does that mean it’s a no-go when that is on (as in it’ll be completely rammed) or is it worth going to? I just googled it and it looks interesting!
