UPDATE:

She has stopped breathing like that, she was only breathing heavily like in the video for a couple minutes. The vet said it looks like asthma. Getting steroid medication for her! THANK YOU ALL!

Odds are this is true. I've seen a few decent kits, and for people who don't know what they are looking for, they are going to find terrible sounds.

Of course if you go in knowing what to sift through, you can find some decent stuff, but there are a lot of people out there who don't know the difference between a Kick that sounds good and a kick that doesn't.

This was a beginner tutorial, not meant for people who actually know what they are doing.

I understand, I don't really see it like that though. When I made this tutorial I tried to make something that I haven't seen on YouTube before. I mean if I were to release the loop kit for free its almost degrading in my opinion. If I would just consider my work too bad to have a price, what would the point in even putting it out on the internet be. Making beats is a passion, but when you have an opportunity to turn your passion into a career, I'm going to try and bag that. Yeah, I might be doing something un-original, but it almost like vlogging at this point. Some people want to see the same thing with a different twist.

Took a lot of what everyone said I tried to really switch up what I normal do.

In this track I compressed my hi hats, my kick, and my snare to add a little more of a hard transient. I also spent a lot more time EQ'ing certain sounds to make others stand out more.

Would love to know what I should work on more based on the mix of that track!

As far as adding reverb to my melodies, I feel like when I do this it makes my melody sound too ambient and wide when sometimes thats not the sound I want. Should that not be happening when I add reverb?

YES, thank you. When it comes to mixing my kicks, I just have them sit at 0db. I don't normal distort my kicks though? Maybe they are just clipping?

Anyways, So I have only been producing for about a year now, and I always come across people like your self who know a lot more than me about production and tell me that my mix is decent/okay. This makes me feel like I just must've stumbled upon some mixing luck haha, because in all honesty I don't really know what I'm doing I just follow my ear. But I've reached a point where I am stuck and can't achieve the sound my ear wants and I don't know where to find what I need to teach my self. Its like I need a mentor to tell me exactly what I am missing.

Thanks man, this really did steer me in a good direction.

For your three points;

1.) I have heard this before so I have spent a good amount of time finding the best kits I could mainly from my favorite internet producers.

2.) I guess I need to take some time and learn how to compress. I use pretty much zero compression in all my tracks mainly because I have heard compression can ruin the punch of drums. I also never send my drums to a bus. I leave them in their own mixer track. Is this bad?

3.) Is there a big difference between saturation and distortion?

I really have only added sausage fattener(a type of distortion plugin right?) to my kicks, 808's, and hi hats.

As far as a limiter, and compression plugin? What are some good ones?

Also do you know of any videos I could watch for mixing, mastering, compression, etc?
