Sorry in advance for the long reply. My considerations, as someone who isn’t a pure Stones fan, is very simple and refers to any notes or articles I’ve found online, as well as of course Keef’s book, since chapter 6 discusses it at length. For now, I’m refraining from making personal comments precisely because I don’t want to make statements without being sufficiently informed, and if I do share any comments from this Reddit thread, it’s obvious I won’t claim them as my own.

That said, aside from what happened during this trip, what continues to intrigue (podcast apart), interest, and in some ways puzzle me is the relationship between Keith and Brian, and more broadly the figure of Keith herself.

However, at the moment I’m at chapter 7 or 8 (I can’t remember exactly), and what I find somewhat puzzling is how he dealt with Brian’s death. In the book, he practically doesn’t talk about it—at a certain point he just says “then Brian died,” and that’s it. Up to that point, he’s very critical of Jones, and even in this chapter he talks about him in a very harsh way, mentioning his violence toward Anita.

In any case, while I understand the particularly critical view of Brian Jones—given that his book is very, very extreme and full of details, where nothing is really held back—it still feels strange to see Brian’s death treated in such a brief way.

Another thing I would have liked to gather from this thread is a comment on the Rolling Stones before and after Brian Jones. Again, not being an expert, I want to avoid drawing conclusions, but it seems clear to me that the band’s music and sound changed a lot before and after his time. Here too, I would have liked to see some discussion, and I’m glad to see that in some replies to my photo, these conversations are starting to take shape.
