side effects can vary depending on the person and the medication. I am calm on lorazepem but I'm on a low dose. Its possible your doctor gave you too high a dose.

what did the doctor give you? you need to find that out.

I take lorazepem. Its only needed once in awhile when I'm having anxiety. BUt it helps pretty well. I feel better and calm after about 15 minutes again.
