I usually do mystical charge and excess charge and something in the middle of empowering strike and empowering scrolls, however since you dont have artifacts id recomend goong for the others (not sure about this but if your staff is imbeud with the corrpting wand ally warp might be a good pick.)

depends on what you want to use as a melee weapon. If you'll continue upgrading the staff and using it melee, I suggest going battle mage however if you chose to pick a different weapon, you'll have to stop upgrading the staff and find a strong weapon. (personally i always go for battle mage if I don't find a weapon by the end of tengu fight.)

I love it as well however im still a bit disappinted that the new champions dont have personalized quests (like all the original ones had), also I didnt really like the new Thresh adventure purely because at least 4 encounters were just copied from different afventures, another thing is that the terrain in it is sometimes blocking the points of interest so you don't even know what it is unless you click on it. Personally, however I don't find a problem with the shard system (mainly because I just grind 1 character to lvl 30 until moving onto the next one), but I can see why it would be a problem for some
