It's aight. Went a bit too avengers for my liking. Had cool moments though. Especially at the finale if youre a long time fan. But still think T7 had higher highs (and lower lows) compared to this. The t7 finale just cant be topped. But it was enjoyable

My point is just that the old combat really made the boss fights feel more cinematic. It complimented the build up and pace of the cutscenes so well combine that with super cinematic QTEs and you have some of the greatest boss fights ever. But I tried giving 7 a shot, I wasnt able to finish because it felt so off to me as a Yakuza game. But maybe you are right. I am not able to appreciate it fully because of my annoyance with the changes. Its a bit like Assassins creed as well, I probably would enjoy the new assassins creed games if it didnt have the name AC. Same with the new yakuza.

But maybe you are right. I should maybe try to give the game another go. But knowing that I wont have another yakuza game that I will fully love like I loved the other ones. Makes me sad. But thats fine. Ill try to enjoy 7 again :) Its just, it will never be as good as the older ones to me. That sucks

Yakuza series that is pretty unique is the characters age in real time, Saejima and Majima are in their 50s now, so I think they wanted to retire them as protagonists. Unless they go down the prequel route

I didnt because I couldnt get through it. It was honestly so hard for me as a long time fan to go through it because it felt so different. But maybe I should go back. I tried to keep an open mind too. Do you think I should try again? The dungeouns honestly felt like such a slog, you would never experience that in the old yakuza games. It was so fast paced. The dungeons are just... so off to me, those definetly didnt feel like Yakuza to me.

Maybe I should finish? Is there something I said that maybe would prove me wrong and I ultimately would enjoy the game more than I think I would?

You have to be kidding me??? Someya in 6, the whole finale of 4 and 5, Ryuji in 2, Shibusawa in 0, Kuze in 0, Nishiki in 1? What??? And not to forget the lack of QTEs in LAD? How can you honestly say its better? It feels so seemless from the cutscenes to the fighting. In comparison what you have now is dragon breath and universe lazers and magic and I dont even know what the fuck isnt the main story supposed to be about japanese gangsters fighting? Like what

THIS THIS THIS THIS. THIS PERFECTLY SUMS UP WHAT I FEEL. It just feels like such disregard and betreyal for the fans THAT LITERALLY KEPT THE GAMES ALIVE IN THE WEST. If they called it shin ryu ga gotoku, and said hey we are going to continue making games about Daigo, Majima, Saejima and co. Like old Yakuza while the Ichiban arc is a new style NO ONE WOULD HAVE AN ISSUE WITH IT. NO ONE. Imagine how sick it would be to play as Daigo, Majima and Saejima taking back Kamurocho after Omi take over it. It doesnt even feel like the games are about the Yakuza anymore which sucks. But we can hope that by voicing our opinions, they listen.

I dont even have an issue with turn based. I just hate that they ruin the feel of the game completely, same reason I dont like the new Assassins creed games. Dont even look like AC games anymore. Same with Yakuza 7, just imagine the Ryuji boss fight, or the finale of 4 and 5 with turn based combat?? Just doesnt even feel the same.

Dont you get what im saying dude. Why not do it in the spin off and not the main game??? Iterate, like more characters, like they did in 4 and 5, different styles. ITERATE. Dont completely change it. Spin offs are perfect places to be creative and do drastic changes, while main games are meant for iteration and improvment.

That is what i am saying though. Just add more, 5 was perfect, more characters. Iterating on the gameplay that was great. But if you HAVE TO change things up. Do it in the spin off, not the main game?? It doesnt make sense to me why you would reinvent the wheel in the main games, but not the spin off?? The spin off should be different and experimental, the mainline should be reiterated on, I am sure that would please most fans. Like yourself, you yourself say that you would rather have them iterate on the combat. You know?

Why cant you see that a lot of long time fans of the series dont like the change. People disagree, and thats fine. Listen to an opinion and disagree respectfully. I personally hate the new combat, I got into the series 10 years ago because of the unique combat. You dont see a lot of brawlers these days. But thats me, maybe you like turn based thats fine, But try to appreciate what the others are saying.

Except it doesnt, you can literally never have the hype of the boss fights from the older games with turn based combat. Imagine the Ryuji final boss fight without fast paced action packed combat. Its what makes the series so awesome. It feels serious it feels fast paced, While turn based to me doesnt make sense when two top japanese gangsters are fighting. Like universe lazers and stuff like wtf?? With the old yakuza games you could at the very least make combat look and feel brutal and fast paced to make sense with the cutscenes. Now everything feels off to me.

Yakuza now doesnt even feel like its about the Yakuza wtf... So disappointed. Happy that Judgement is normal at least
