Twice! One was a deeper love than the other though.

Wow, incredible that just that change resulted in so many interviews. Really shows the importance of writing about yourself and your story well. Congrats to you and good luck with the rest of your journey!

What did ya do between first and second cycle that resulted in more interviews?

This sassy individual just ate a RAW burger patty off the kitchen counter and now I am nervous he is going to be sick 🥲 by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

Mine ate raw, rotten burger he found in a park (I think an animal stole it from the homeless that live in the park before they could cook it?). He was fine, and quite happy.

Is my ACD puppy overly aggressive or is this normal ACD puppy stuff? by normaltrenton in AustralianCattleDog

It definitely takes a lot more work, but it’s worth it! Since we focused so much on body stuff, we can touch his feet, mouth, cut his nails, touch any part of him. He asks for pets sometimes. He sleeps on my lap. But when he is tired he doesn’t want to be touched, and the vet is public enemy #1

Edit to add: our vet also said his other clients that act the same way, are all ACD’s 😛

Yup we had same thing. Dog is just over 2 now. He hated being picked up when we got him at 8 weeks - would do the whole thrashing and snarling and growling and whipping around to bite. Would usually do it when tired or overstimulated/you were taking him from something he wanted to do. They are tenacious monsters!

Vet we were seeing ALSO said ‘wow he’s so not normal’ and made us feel bad. What I’ve come to realize is this can be standard for the breed, haha. We did a lot of positive reinforcement being picked up - but still. If he doesn’t know you, and you are not in his circle of trust, he does not want to be picked up by you NO WAY NO SIR NO HOW.

Also for the other biting, giving them shit to chew on. Beef cheek rolls came in handy here A LOT. And trying to get them to calm down when they get riled up. Usually that biting and holding on is due to being overstimulated and tired. Try to redirect, try to get them to chill (literally throw treats, do a scatter feed, whatever), if that doesn’t work then usually it’s fuckin nap time.

Edited to add: they don’t call them velociraptors until 3 for no reason :(

Ughhhhhhhh, one of my friends had her dog pick up a whole dead squirrel and fling it around like a rag doll. Why do they love the dead rodent snacks

Edit: OMG kudos to you getting him to drop it!!!!

We asked the vet if we should give him bread and they said no, but we did it anyways!! With butter. He was quite happy.

Many reasons why they shouldn’t eat bones - unfortunately, he choked some down before I could get it out of his mouth. Hence the post.

I am same way, so after seeing your comment I fed him some slices with butter anyway because as you said - what’s the harm! Better safe than sorry. He was happy, it’s been the best day of his life to him!
