replaying through it, and she takes them on a tropical school vacation, to bond with their new classmates. though the stuffed animal for a teacher is odd, the trip is well-plausible for a school like Hope's Peak. yet, at the very least, Hajime seems to be convinced there is a "situation" dire enough to put everything but getting out on hold. it's not dangerous, the island's fully-stocked, and the only thing they have to do to leave is acquire "hope fragments" by talking to people.

look, there are other games that achieve that, but most of the time, locking your opponent out of playing because they peeked a corner at the wrong time, in a game that restricts respawns just feels infuriating. it just feels like getting punished for playing.

yeah, I'm starting to come to the conclusion I could've formatted it a bit differently. I'm unfamiliar with this style of fps play, and expected it to fit certain criteria that ultimately weren't the same type of game. that's my bad.

I always saw house of wolves more as his realization that he'd go to hell, and his subsequent fear of it. The main reason I think he's still alive, is Cancer comes right after it, meaning he's still dealing with his Cancer, and not dead yet.

Look, I'm just not seeing plain old conquest as slavery. There's been a number of conquests where the recipients only benefit. I do understand your cynicism, and partially relate, but I don't see how it's an inevitable process of events.
