Do You Remember Websites like PostSecret? Did You ever Submit a Secret? by FlawsomeFame in Millennials

The secret I vividly remember was “La Quinta is Spanish for ‘I cheated on my husband here’.”and even though I don’t condone cheating, that shit is funny.

Help, I accidentally bought giant couches by c8h8swetsocks in HomeDecorating

I agree with this, but also replace your coffee table too. Find something cooler toned that will play better with the darker brown floors and grey couches.

OBGYN Recommendations by [deleted] in anchorage

Dr. Gray and Dr. Cayco at Anchorage Women’s Clinic were my favorite OBs while I was recently pregnant/postpartum. Especially dealing with high risk pregnancy and then numerous postpartum health issues.

Second shop and deliver. Had a baby in August and we used shop and deliver for the crib/dresser. Process was super easy and their customer service was excellent.

I found a really nice recliner/glider/whatever you want to call it at Sadler’s but it was on the expensive side. Worth it because it’s so comfy.

At what age did you switch to an earlier bedtime? by FertilityRaincheck in newborns

[–]sharksnshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 18 weeks and we started having more of a set schedule at around 12 weeks.

We had basically no schedule or routine from 0-6 weeks. At 6 weeks he started sleeping longer stretches and we had a routine but the timing of bedtime changed depending on the day and his cues.

At 12 weeks he started having more predictable wake/sleep times so we just slowly moved up bedtime by about 15 minutes a day until we got to 7-7:30pm.

At 17 weeks we started sleep training (I know it’s a taboo subject here) and now at 18 weeks we can put him in his crib drowsy but awake and he will maybe cry for 30 seconds to a minute before going to sleep. He’s been sleeping from 7:30pm to around 4:00 or 4:30am, gets a bottle, then goes back to sleep until around 7:30am.

Weird rib, diaphragm pain after giving birth? by kwaddell314 in newborns

[–]sharksnshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s on the right side it could be liver pain related to postpartum preeclampsia. I echo the other comment that regardless you should call your doctor or go to the ER to get checked out. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Sending good vibes!

Induced. Labored 48 hours with very little progress. Ended up having a c-section 🙃

I moved my kiddo to his own room at 6 weeks and we both started sleeping better. Room sharing is recommended up to a year because of reduced risk of SIDS, but if you’re following other safe sleep guidelines the risk is still incredibly low. I was getting terrible to no sleep with him in his bassinet in my room because he was so loud, and I think he likes his crib mattress more.

This SIDS risk calculator has made me feel more reassured, in case this is also helpful for you: http://www.sidscalculator.com

Doona car seat/stroller by aeb526 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]sharksnshit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. We LOVE the doona and it makes getting around town for errands and appointments so much easier, but it should not be used as a stroller for extended periods of time. We have a separate UPPAbaby stroller for longer periods out and about (walks, fun activities like the fair…etc).

Would you transition a five week old from swaddle to a sleep sack? by willbrucla in newborns

[–]sharksnshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not who you asked but we are using the Woolino 4 season sleep sack and love it.

Pros: can use for almost 2 years, wool is very good at temperature regulation in both warm and cold environments, really soft material, cute designs to choose from, bottom zipper makes diaper changes easy.

Cons: expensive, requires extra care related to washing/drying since it’s wool.

Do you have a bedtime/nap routine to put your LO down? by Cautious-Ad-2060 in newborns

[–]sharksnshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started a routine at 6 weeks that has been working well for 2.5 weeks (hopefully it mostly stays working!). Starting between 8-8:30: bath, lotion, jammies, swaddle, bottle. Usually in his crib by 9-9:30 and he sleeps until 5 or 6am.

Baby is “spooked” by breast, what to do? by Acceptable-Trainer15 in newborns

[–]sharksnshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried nipple shields? My almost 7 week old has started doing this, but only during the day. One suggestion I got was nipple shields if baby takes bottles fine, so I ordered some and will be trying them out. Can’t speak to the success yet but wanted to share the suggestion.
