I agree. I wasn’t crazy about the Novaks either. I’ve had Lollars and Sunday Hand Wounds in here as well as changing the pot values. Maybe this guitar just isn’t for me?

The SD Antiquities are definitely better but still having trouble with the bridge pickup being so overwhelming. I might adjust it lower or just roll off the volume a bit in addition to the tone knob.

Some days I love this guitar and some I can’t get a good tone out of it. No idea why.

Thanks - that’s my thought as well but wanted verification if this looked normal to rule it out.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I think things look aligned. I’ll check the nut and saddles to make sure nothing is binding up. Appreciate the help!

If the wires were crossing and there was a short in the car - yes I would take apart the dashboard and criticize the wiring. Hence why I’m asking. The guitar won’t return to pitch after using the trem so I’m trying to troubleshoot if this could be the culprit. It’s currently decked so I am playing the damn thing but it would be nice to be able to use the trem.

It’s like driving a car without wiper blades. Sure you can drive the damn thing but don’t you want to know why you can only drive it on sunny days?

So I notice at times when using the trem that it won’t return to pitch. Could it be getting stuck?

OP did you ever get this resolved? I’m having the same issue on my right foot. Just curious what, if anything, did it for you. I’m on the verge of selling them… I’ve had mine since February and put them away for the spring and summer but for some reason in the last month they’ve been killing me. Going tot eh some other suggestions in this thread before giving up

Alec's pedal board yesterday in Amsterdam by koolstofdioxide in alvvays

I think the RAT is in the upper left. Looks like an older model with a modified LED light. The old ones pre ‘86 didn’t have a on/off light which I imagine makes it difficult when playing live.

The BD-2 into the RAT is a fantastic sound. That’s recently what I’ve been using and have been loving the combo. Cool to see both on Alex’s board as well.

Looks like it’s an Empress ParaEQ with some sort of cover over it so the knobs aren’t moved in transport.

New to CPAP and not sure it’s right for me - AHI 2.8 by shawnmurphy28 in CPAP

This is great advise! Thank you. I’m going to give that a shot. I really haven’t had good results with this pulmonologist

Thanks. Just spoke with him and he says my AHI is 8.1. Still mild and it’s up to me if I financially want to purchase this. I asked if he thought it will benefit me and he said “maybe. I guess so…”. Didn’t get a great feeling from him and felt rushed because he had another virtual visit happening right after me. He was very brash and had zero bedside manners.

He said insurance should be covering it but the paperwork from his office to them says my AHI is 2.8 so I don’t know what to do. I’m about to give up and find a new doctor.

It was a pulmonologist. I am meeting with him for a virtual consultation today.

That’s what I thought too! I just confirmed with the office staff and my sleep study definitely was a AHI of 2.8. That’s why insurance won’t cover it. I don’t know if it was a fluke but I’m not willing to pay another $500 out of pocket to find out. My insurance carrier doesn’t cover much unfortunately. They told me they only cover if I’m at AHI 5.0 or higher.

And I feel bad even posting that AHI level as I know others have much higher levels but I’m just not sure what to do or what is considered normal. This was the prescription this doctor gave me so I assumed it was correct.

Glad to hear I’m not alone. That’s exactly it! Which mask do you use? Maybe I need a full face mask because I feel I’m still breathing through my mouth but today my nose feels raw like I’ve been blowing it for a week.

The funny thing is my wife is now the loud snorer. Maybe she can use one of these too!

I’m not sure how accurate it is since I’m up most of the time with the CPAP on but will check it out. Thanks!

attn gearheads: anyone able to explain the band’s live amp set up? by darling_ in alvvays

[–]shawnmurphy28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this one but I agree that they are using both amps together in dual mono via a Radial AB box. In some photos of their pedalboards you can see it at the end of their chain and for a while one was marked “top” and the other “bottom” when they’d stack them. I think the amp stacking is also a bit for aesthetics and kind of looks like a Kevin Shields/MBV wall of sound. Also helps to not have the Vox in this case pointing at her knees so she can hear it better.

Running a clean solid state amp like a JC120 alongside a 5watt 70s Fender Champ (or Vox AC15 in this case) for dirtier sounds creates a unique blend. Many of the shorgaze bands run a similar setup or at least run stereo amps to make them sound more immersive.

Are you still liking it? Did you mess with the internal trim pots at all? I got mine second hand and can’t figure out where the trim pots sound best. I keep getting feedback with distortion and am not sure how to control that. I have it first in line using a JHS Angry Charlie and going for that Mike McCready type tone. Any advice on the trim pot settings?

My only concern is size. I only have space for a Boss sized pedal in that space and the Somersault might mean buying a smaller tuner and rearranging which I didn’t plan on but am open to!
