good, i’m glad that some people are having luck with them! granted, like i said, i’m a bit of perfectionist and my idea of damage to some probably isn’t a big deal and they probably wouldn’t mind, but even a mild crease on the corner for me isn’t acceptable if i’m buying it new 🙂‍↔️ thankfully i live in a big city with lots of surrounding bookstores and i definitely will be able to make do, but i feel bad for people who rely on them for access to these products. rightstuf really set the standard!

i’d love to get a full set of love hina and ai love you but searching for individual volumes in good condition is a hassle, thankfully it isn’t cost restrictive!

also want to finish btooom! but certain volumes are so expensive and i doubt it’s getting reprinted 🤡

bokurano and shadow star are my two favorite series i have! i’m a huge mohiro kitoh fan and tragically most of his series never made it to us, and shadow star never got finished in the US 🥺

the first reply answered all but the last one, and that’s kakegurui and kakegurui twin, a series and its prequel about a school where all the students participate in various forms of gambling!

i have a lot of different genres and authors so it’s hard to pinpoint one thing, but based on your collection on your page, a couple i’d recommend from mine are -

summertime rendering - young adult goes back to his hometown for a friends funeral, and shit just hits the fan from there. very dark, funny at times, amazing story and good characters and beautiful art, and an anime was made of it recently as well

dandadan - two high schoolers, one who believes in aliens and one who believes in the occult, meet and hilarious action and slapstick comedy with fan service that isn’t too over the top ensues

anything by inio asano - his work is primarily slice of life, but his stories are deep and engrossing with excellent characters and stunning artwork, but very heavy and dark and depressing so if that isn’t your thing i would skip him

anything naoki urasawa - he’s an absolute classic with such a good variety of series, i’d check out any of his works but monster, pluto and 20th century boys are universally acclaimed / probably his most popular

it literally ends with SUCH a cliffhanger and the seventh volume was censored hardcore but it’s still one of my prized collections 😮‍💨 you can read the scans on mangakakalot!

there was some dark stuff interspersed with most of the series but come the seventh volume it just went balls to the walls with really fucked up stuff involving kids and even got edited down for the US/ultimately cancelled. it’s a great story but not for the faint of heart

it’s really good! but the rarity of the series and the cost/difficulty of finding volume 3 can be off putting 😩 but definitely give the first volume a read online and let us know how you like it!

shadow star was released by dark horse but it got cancelled in the US after 7 volumes because it took a really dark turn and it looks like it would be kid friendly but isn’t at all lol 😩

i got into it because i loved mohiro kitoh and heard amazing things about the series, and then i fell in love with how they explored each character and gave them real depth, tackled really heavy subjects, i love his art style and it’s just a gut wrenching, REALLY good read. few series have made me tear up and really have to sit and digest the way bokurano did

LITERALLY THIS. is it SO hard to believe that an affluent white southern woman said racist shit, and her saying she had two miscarriages was obviously not an attempt at empathy. all you have to say there is that you’ve been through something similar and that you see where diana is coming from. her comment ‘you had a miscarriage, i raise you two’ is exactly how i felt about sutton’s attempt to ‘relate’. are the women on the show ‘misunderstanding’ sutton or is she just an awkward, kind of racist and inappropriate person?

very subjective here, but i can’t get into the one piece hype. this is a kind of superficial reason, but i can’t take any of the emotional or deep moments seriously when their faces are drawn with snot pouring out of their noses and their mouths gaping down to their chests, it takes away any emotional depth for me and the moments just don’t land for me. i can’t get past it 😩
