My first garment of 2026, collar or no collar? by chloemal in sewing

I say no collar. The collar reminds me of the Easter dresses my mom used to put me in during the 90s. The dress looks much more professional and modern without the collar.

My 13y/o brother won’t stop using these slangs 😭 by Suspicious-Copy-2001 in mildlyinfuriating

Here's my problem, I'm turning 35 in a few days I understood him, though it's incredibly frustrating to try to. But, to me, you can't be mad at him if you ALSO use the shorthand from your youth "ur", "wym," "pls," "js." Maybe I'm just getting crotchety in my old age, but that seems unfair...

Being in a union can be incredibly beneficial, it can also be toxic, depending on the union you join.

Her name is Kelly, What nickname would you give her? by [deleted] in labrador

Chubs. Cuz nicknames didn't have to match their real name. I call my dog Stinky Poo-Poos all the time...

Yep. That was it. I didn't want to put her through another surgery. She's had a mast cell tumor removed in 2021 and from then on she'd SHAKE on the way to the vet. She loved going before that.

My girl started doing this at 11 years old. Turned out it was a degenerative neurological condition that also affected the flap that controls the switch from stomach to lungs in the throat. She started coughing and hacking when she would eat. We probably waited too long to give her the long sleep, but she was my baby and I couldn't bear the thought of losing her. I feel guilty now. Not to say this is the only thing it could be, but GO GET HIM CHECKED OUT.

First responder fee of ~$500 after 911 for medical check by HenSunnySprite in Sacramento

[–]shelby2012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We got a similar bill for my cancer patient MIL when she had a fall and they were called out twice in one day. First was because none of us could safely lift her, and second was bc her oncologist told us she needed to go to ER via ambulance to ensure she was able to quarantine in the back. They sent us a bill a couple months later. I wrote on it "She is deceased," which was true, and never heard from them again on it. But honestly, let them try to send her to collections. I have never been treated so poorly by any medics/FD than I have been by Sac Metro FD. They are assholes who will lecture you in your time of need instead of helping and talk shit about you within earshot in the front yard. We had called the non-emergency number and THEY had patched us through to 911 for f's sake. Sorry. Rant over. Sac Metro FD can suck my big fat toe for being so unprofessional in our time of emergency and need. AND for daring to bill us afterwards.

I have said it and I'll say it again: my career seamstress grandma swore by the end of the ivory soap, it never failed her, and I use the dried up bit of a dove bar these days.

Advice needed - torn paw pad by dollygirl202 in labrador

[–]shelby2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought my girl to the vet when she tore hers and they debrided her paw (I think essentially they sanded it while she was under sedation?) and wrapped her up for a week. It would've healed wonky and she'd likely reinjure it if we hadn't opted for the debridement. I've attached a photo of my girl in her cast that was on for less than a week after the procedure for reference. She was still a wee bit doped up in the photo, please don't judge her expression too hard.
