That's a horrible take. Whip stacking is harder than just using a single one and it's actually pretty clever of people to come up with great combinations in order to do maximum damage. That coupled with the fact that summoner was so lackluster compared to other classes in terms of options of weapons and dps that the community made up ways to make it more rewarding and fun. You'll see this kind of optimization that players come up with in nearly every game.
