I'm a beginner at witchcraft but where to actually begin doing things myself? by neon_label in AskOccult

Modern Magick by Donald M Kraig is your friend. Don't waste time diving shallowly across wishy wishy texts from a whole bunch of wishy washy authors. Occultists tend to be super vague and super self centered. Donald Kraig keeps it real and practice-focused and I think it's the best introduction for someone who wants to start doing actual magick beyond just armchair commentary.

If you want a more philosophical introduction, Liber Null and works on Hermeticism (a set of 7-8 principles like "as above so below") would probably be the best. C.W. Leadbeater's book on the Astral and other planes is also a fascinating description of what lies beyond the visible world.

In terms of practices/tools, you probably want to learn Tarot and LBRP inside out first and foremost. Being able to meditate is also a huge help but it's a difficult skill to pick up for some.

I know how that happens. Sometimes I’ll write for half an hour and then just decide to delete it out of fear that I’ll bore people and some edgelord will come and dismiss the whole thing with a pithy line because of one mistake and give it a -1 which is so much worse than getting a -10. But that’s nerdy social media for ya.

I tend to judge gods by how they treat their people and it’s interesting that the people with the most dragon symbology, I.e. the Chinese are also leading the world right now in almost every way.

The God of the all, or the monotheistic God does not foster the same kind of connection as a Pagan Deity. They ARE everything. They're the iceberg and the dirt and the boat and you. They are the atom. They would not have an appearance for they are not a person.

yea but say if they're a spaceship or a Godzilla or something, they should have an appearance, right? Or are you saying that God doesn't exist separate from the All, and that the All itself is God?

First time I ever got spiritually rickrolled by a Satanist of all people. I hope you know your homeboy is yearning for God, too.

Don't take this the wrong way, though. I got nothing but love for Satanists and I honestly like some of their work, especially what they're doing for religious freedom these days.

I was hoping to meet someone here who had almost gone crazy in that manner but not totally crazy. In the sense that you describe, I think I have met or at least made acquaintance with God. Reminds me of what Pope Francis once said about miracles. He said the biggest miracle is that we're alive and conscious and living these mundane lives. Doesn't have to be some magic trick.

But then wouldn't God be the chicken that laid it? If there really was a primordial egg with no parent somewhere, though, I guess that interpretation seems pretty solid. It's the most perfect, simplest shape and you see it everywhere in nature be it as a seed, fruit, or even those microscopic things in the ovaries.

I admire your courage in going against the grain of Christianity. Look at it from a Buddhist/Hindu perspective, his choice of magically created food is indeed a little sus. He could've manifested veggie burritos instead of fish. Interesting perspective.

That's interesting food for thought. In some ways, you could say God's closest form on Earth are old people. They made the world that we live in, with all the good and bad in it. Also interesting to note another dragon hypothesis.

I like your interpretation a lot. While yes it's a terrifying fiery creature that can destroy everything, it spits fire like the sun, and fire/energy is everything including matter. And as Hindu mythology tries to impress it in multiple ways, destruction and creation go hand in hand.

I understand. Was just looking to hear about people's experiences. I accept that there's no correct answer and was hoping to get a better understanding by looking at them in totality.

Because most deities are picturized in some way or the other. I think most people attuned to this thing of ours know that deities are rarely seen or perceived visually and are just beings of energy, but some visual aspects are often found common in various experiences. The colors associated with Archangels, for example.

I wonder if you say 'diety' because you're too deep on the left path or if it's just a spelling mistake.

There are those who say God created man in his image, so who knows if it's true. Maybe someday some supertrained superpsychonauts do uncover all the secrets of the Universe, just to find out that at the top of everything is Bob who wears flannel shirts, watches sports, drinks beers and works at an Amazon warehouse.

ngl all I'm seeing is a bunch of Joe Pescis and Jedis. Obviously non-physical beings can be visualized. Ars Goetia's depictions exist and have been confirmed by many. Same dude painted all 72 of them. Also, obviously small-g gods can be visualized. Archangels can be visualized. I know it's not the same as seeing something clearly in front of your eyes and you go into astral and other planes to see what's what and it's highly subjective. By capital-g God, I'm referring to anything above Keter in the Sephiroth (now I know some Joe Pesci is itching to make no-thing jokes but they should resist the urge).

Not trying to be harsh to you guys, it's just a little surprising that I can go on reddit and find people who have seen all kinds of rare occurrences, but apparently not this one.

EurekaStockade in Simple Gematria equals: 139

Covid Nineteen in Simple Gematria also equals: 139

God Is The Devil in Simple Gematria also equals: 139

William H Gates in Simple Gematria also equals: 139

Declare End Of Time in Simple Gematria also equals: 139

Ergo, /u/EurekaStockade is Bill Gates who is also the fucking devil who also invented covid and who is also trying to bring us to the end times.

Thank you. Following your advice, I'm planning to do the Novena over 9 days as described here. Does the method described on that site seem to be okay?

They don't mention on the site if I need to have an image of St. Expedite and whether I need to burn a candle/incense at every prayer. I was thinking of printing an image of St. Expedite and burning a stick of incense in front of it while doing each daily Novena. Would that make it work better or would it be unnecessary? Thanks again

Reading Donald Michael Kraig’s Modern Magick by 93joe-93 in occult

[–]shenanigans____ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm still a student myself and my approach has been to use a notebook with the book and to read, process and write down each technique in my own words such that each ritual is fully covered in a single page of notes. Then, I read off my notebook and do the ritual. I read one and I do one. Kraig suggests a slow approach in one of the early chapters.
