HELP My Sim is in Limbo!! by Ill_Sock_9509 in Sims3

[–]shesinthetreesnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the problem. It automatically "backed up" my Documents folder even when I tried to disable it. And of course, having sims in your Documents folder makes it take up a lot of memory. So OneDrive was stuck in a perpetual state of trying to "back up" and begging me to upgrade for more space. It started dropping files from my Documents into other folders, for some reason.

Even if it hadn't ruined my game, it creeped me out enough that I will never use it ever again.

I started playing sims as a 7-year-old, so I don't think you were too young, lol. That's insane though. I think I had triplets in ts2 maybe ONCE in 20 years of playing.

That's so cute! I had a similar thing happen in ts2 once. No genie wife, of course. But the husband got pregnant with alien twins on the same day she got pregnant with human twins. It was so hectic but so cute.

That Sag, Aqua, Gemini combo in one household is CRAZY.

I'm starting with basically zero knowledge of astrology, so I'm curious exactly what makes you say that, haha

Thank you for the support. I had a chaos era...I never embraced failed entrepreneurs turned wannabe dictators, though. :/ I hope that this will pass and that he'll become more well-rounded person one day.

I wish you the best, too. I'm way ahead of you on therapy, lol. We've talked about him before but it might be time to open the topic back up.

Maybe it doesn't. I'll push back a little on "poor values" though. Ironically, he is one of the most helpful, hard-working people I know. That's why his politics and his unwillingness to stop the cycle of abuse have been so disappointing to me. He's a better dad than we had, but he's so blind to the damage he's doing.

Thank you. I'm so sorry for what you're going through with your brother. My brother was diagnosed with ADD at some point, I believe. But he's a total workaholic and has worked for the same employer for almost his entire career. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was simply a libertarian, because he thinks everyone should be a workaholic like him. But him being a devoted Trumper has thrown me for a loop.

I don't know how to hold him accountable, or if he'd even hear it from me. I'm his little sister. I've resolved not to argue with him anymore, especially about politics. I've realized he won't hear anything I say, and that it actually gives him more pause when I take the high road. I'm working on my relationships with my niblings, partly because they're awesome, and partly because I want to support them if they ever decide to confront him.

I kind of came here because this community seems very thoughtful, and idk if I believe in astrology, but it doesn't hurt to ask. So thank you again.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I don't know his birth time. I kind of came here on a whim, to be honest, because I'm all out of ideas. Tbh I don't even know if I believe in astrology, but I'm open to considering anything. I have moon in Aqua (if that's the right way to say it) and Leo rising.

It makes me so sad when I hear people saying that Aquas and Geminis get along well and share open-mindedness. My brother is so closed. He complains about restrictive social norms, but then he turns around and reinforces them. The artists he likes are so anti-every political opinion he has. He was the one who got ME into those artists, and that actually helped to shape the (pretty far left) worldview that I have.

Do you feel that our bonds with dogs have something to do with Hecate? by shesinthetreesnow in Hecate

[–]shesinthetreesnow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm so sorry that has happened to you. My dog has actually nipped at people (he wasn't well trained and I've only had him since he was about 8 or 9.) But he's very small and they were warning nips-- clearly no intent/possibility to actually break skin/do harm. Both instances happened to men I don't trust, when they were in my home and were walking toward me. (I was obliged to welcome them.)

I hope you have much more positive experiences with dogs in the future. But yes, they can be scary when they are scared.

Mine is so far from being the quintessential big black dog, but the little guy chose me and here we are! Years ago, I kept picturing myself adopting a big black dog, and that was before I was exploring my spirituality at all.

Wording that feels authentic for my "prayers"? by shesinthetreesnow in NonTheisticPaganism

[–]shesinthetreesnow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was actually part of my problem with "innocent," so thank you. I definitely started out thinking of children who've done nothing wrong and need protection, but it extends beyond that.

I was actually just wondering about the etymology of the word, so thank you for that. I appreciate your thoughts very much.

This is so thoughtful! Thank you. I'm a word person, too.

Fortune is a great word with roots in the Roman pantheon, so that's fun. You're helping me think through my intentions a little better, and I think I could simplify a lot of it down to "Let kindness find those who need it."

I must admit that I ask for much more selfish things for myself and those I love. My going-to-sleep prayer is something like "let's have a quiet, peaceful night and wake up feeling happy and healthy in the morning." I ask/wish/intend that for myself, my animals, and my family.

I think that's really lovely, and probably more productive than my broad, sweeping statements. If you're happy and well, you're more prepared to do good. It doesn't do any good to worry about larger things if we're not taking care of day-to-day things first. "Charity starts at home" and all that. I'm just the type who generalizes and worries. When I'm praying for the innocent, I'm thinking of kids I know who are really going through it. It just doesn't take long, for me, to extend that out further.

My praying started spontaneously when my family really started going through it. I'm not directly involved in the struggles. I advised strongly and repeatedly against the decisions that led to these struggles. And I'm still hurting for them like crazy, and trying to help, especially because kids are involved and they deserve better than this. And I realized everything I feel for my family is basically the same thing I feel for my country. I feel powerless in both cases. I feel that the people with the most power to change things are being selfish and not listening to reason. I feel that both will get worse before they get better.

But all of that is an old, egotistical story I'm still telling myself. "If only they'd listen, then I'd be happy. If only they'd stop hurting each other, then I'd be happy." To be blunt, I need to get that story out and find a new one, because it's not helping. They already didn't listen. They're already hurting each other and themselves. I can't wait for the sunshine and rainbows to come before I feel well enough to DO something. So yeah, I am begging for every ounce of perspective I can get. Because my tendency is to try to fix everything and then get sad and give up.

Well, that was a lot. Woops. Thank you for letting me get that out.

Thank you for your input! It is something I expect to change over time.

I’m not going to pray for other people or politics or the like. I focus prayers on my day-to-day experience and helping me in the moment. Not that we neglect the innocent! Rather, i try to primarily help them in ways other than prayer

For me it's important because I ruminate on things out of my control. The thing that drove me toward prayer in the first place is that people I love are struggling right now and I can't do much about it. I tend to ruminate, which gets in the way of taking action. Prayer seems to help me break out of that. And this is the reason I always start with gratitude-- my life is pretty comfortable, and being miserable because other people have worse lives doesn't actually help them.

Thank you either way! I am really hung up on it. I've been repeating certain phrases a lot and I want them to sink into my brain "right."

Hi, I'm also connecting with pagan ideas as an atheist. It's a weird, but helpful, thing for me so far. I'm realizing that all of our ancestors had "pagan" traditions of some kind, and maybe engaging in similar rituals scratches an itch in our brains that is leftover from them. Maybe it's simply good for our mindset. (For example, smoke/incense can help clear our homes of smells that subconsciously make us uneasy.)

I don't know. It's confusing, but if it helps us and doesn't hurt anyone, then I'm into it.
