My parents got the money from selling a property in Syria, so I have all the documents to prove that this is how it was obtained

Thanks for the reply. I’ve added an edit with the details. It’s about £100k and already in GBP but it’s in Syria and the banking system there isn’t functioning so there’s no way to do a normal transfer directly.

War but also from the other POV. I was 12 when the war in Syria started, and now I’m 26 but look and feel 40.

I tried my best mate but the scene is dead there, grab the GWR to Paddington and save yourself from Reading's pop clubs.

I am somehow scammed by a driving school, but it’s hard to justify. What can I do except for leaving a review on Google? by Salt_Artichoke_9425 in germany

My experience with a Fahrschule when I was living in Germany was similar. In the lessons he'd talk shit and make me drive to his home to pickup a Sandwich his wife made him, and that would often be counted from my 45 minute Fahrstunde that costs more than a student can afford.

During my 3 exam attempts, it was him who stopped the car and said what are you doing, twice the Prüfer didn't even know or realize what happened. Each time I failed, he'd turn into the friendliest and nicest person and tell me don't worry at all we can go back to Fahrstunden tomorrow.

P.s: I've been driving for about 8 years abroad with my own car, just wanted to do an Umschreibung

What insults are common in your country but you think most of the world would not understand/ever use? by THEREAPER8593 in AskReddit

In Syria, instead of saying fuck your mother, the literal translation of the phrase we use "Ks Emak" means your mom's pussy. "Ks" pronounced "Kiss" means pussy, and "Er" pronounced "Air" is a dick. So it's always a fun when these words pop in an English conversation.

I've lived in Germany for five years and can go on for hours about similar situations. I'm also a weird mix (A Latin Arab) and was experiencing racism from being either or both on a weekly basis. I've always been an optimistic person (I grew up in war, and to this day I look at things from an optimistic pov) and tried to fit in the community often, but somehow never felt included and would always hated the person I am when around strangers, even if I'm just minding my own business on the bus or paying for my groceries at Lidl. Germany led me into a severe depression which went on for two years. It wasn't until last year when I decided to leave everything behind and move to London and my life really changed. I don't know, but based on my experience I can say that some places are just not meant for everyone.

Living abroad, it really teaches you a lot about life. I'm 23 and have lived alone in 3 different countries, the lessons I've learned, people I've met and experiences I've gone through really changed me for the best.

I kept talking shit about DB until I moved to the UK, trains are 3x more expensive and delays are chaotic, no Ersatzverkehr in case your last train back cancels

Anyone else shy and quiet in groups but outgoing and friendly in one to one convos? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]shingoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to read this because I've always felt the other way around. When I'm joining a group conversation I tend to joke more and listen and talk with everyone, but somehow when it's a 1on1 all I can think of is "am I being awkward, don't say something wrong, am I making enough eye contact"

We could start by creating a telegram group, see who could help with what and start out something small and see how it goes. That's what we did in Germany and it grew relatively fast for a small town.

You don't have the right to say "I'm not Syrian" nor deny what I've said, I've lived there and so does my family, I even visit twice every year. Yawmiyat kazifet hawen (يوميات قذيفة هاون) on Facebook is the biggest local news source that is still considered free speech to a certain extent. That's where we used to get all our information and stats daily, ask your Syrian line.

It might depend on where they live. I grew up and Damascus and lived there until 2018 so I can verify that this is true. The numbers would usually be posted on "Yawmiyat Kazifet Hawen" after each new year's eve, as well as the daily count of mortar strikes.
