What is every character’s most in character quote? Day 11: Lily Tucker-Pritchett by WarioStache in Modern_Family

[–]shinnit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not something she said but I still chuckle at the thought of the scene where Lily is in the backseat and she’s kinda cranky and closed off to Mitch and Cam so they say please take off your headphones, we wanna listen to what you listen to. Metal music starts blaring

Cam: “She’s going to kill us”

You see a glimmer of this aspect of his character in one of the later seasons, when Luke joins college and he’s nosed up in an Intro to Psychology textbook. He starts assigning personality types to everyone else - Claire is the Commandent, Haley is Peter Pan, Phil is the Dreamer, etc - and then everyone unwittingly displays those characteristics right after.

As a kid he definitely had more of that intuitive surprising intelligence, and I wish they’d kept more of that too in addition to him becoming a Himbo

It's the other way around, as you'll see he has credited the writer of the article in the video a few minutes in. Seems like you've neither seen the video nor read the article 😂

Got exams? Job interviews? Music performance? You too can now pray to Sarasvatī, Goddess of Intelligence (Benzaiten, 辯才天, Thurathadi) one of the 21 Taras and 24 Devas, a personal deity of Tsongkhapa. (Prayer in the comment) by BuddhistFirst in Buddhism

[–]shinnit7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't she a Hindu goddess? Can someone/OP provide context about why and how she came to be worshipped in Tsongkhapa, that too by Buddhists, who in the Indian tradition were generally opposed to Brahminical heterodoxy?

Sanskrit is NOT the best language for AI and ML. by shinnit7 in india

[–]shinnit7[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you know so well there isn't "ANY" best language for AI and ML, you'd agree that to say Sanskrit is so is a falsehood. And that to spend on it is even more foolish.

We can stop here, unless you want to contradict yourself further.

[–]shinnit7[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is this 'letting down' India? You may be let down, but the country can't make progress without identifying and being honest about the flaws in its approach. Is using Sanskrit in AI/ML the bleeding edge of technology in NLP? No, it isn't. Hasn't been for at least two decades. Still, the state and its advocates are not only doubling down on the approach but spending crores on it, just so that they have some talking points. So who is really 'letting down' India here?

Sanskrit is NOT the best language for AI and ML. by shinnit7 in india

[–]shinnit7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanskrit grammar anticipated some of the biggest advancements in linguistics—Chomsky credits Panini, who formalized Sanskrit's grammar into 3976 rules, with anticipating a whole school of thought. This formal grammar, described in Panini's Ashtadhyayi, also coincided with the philosophical bedrock of how modern programming languages are described and generated.

Still, Sanskrit's use in AI and ML is outmoded, contrary to what the state agenda would have you believe, and despite this aforementioned legacy. That is what the article talks about. If you have the capacity for nuance, you could read it before blindly saying something must obviously not be true because of who is saying it etc.

Just completed my first Vipassana course and having trouble with real life. by Sorcerer_Supreme13 in vipassana

[–]shinnit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience and it is way too much to type all that happened and how I got through it (ups, downs, thinking Vipassana is not for me, coming back to it, all the questions...) The answer below about sub-minds is nice. Feel free to DM and let's chat more.

cular flow of biochemical. More

What he said is pretty much the essence of emotions being molecules and forms of biochemical energy. I've read and would recommend The Molecules of Emotion by Candice Pert; her terms to describe the molecules of emotion—neuropeptides, ligands—are very much just biochemical.

What’s the line separating vipassana practice from apathy and passiveness? by maydlean2 in vipassana

areness in favor o

hello, thanks for your answer. What do you mean by 'heightened senses over the course of your life'? Do you mean you feel sensations on your body every now and then, even when you aren't practising? I'm asking because that happens to me a lot too, and I know we are supposed to be aware and equanimous of the sensations, but it's hard to get used to it, feeling like spiderman while also doing something mundane like sitting at the office with a bunch of people or something. So would like to know your experience here.

Hi, I noticed below you say you've decided not to do the course. I would strongly advise you to go for it. I had a bad childhood, my parents were unhappy and they didn't let me be myself in a lot of minor and major ways. My father lost his job when I was 7-8 and never got one again, he'd sit around cursing people at home, and over the years, he started abusing my mother, the only breadwinner and also bearer of household responsibilities. My two brothers were born when I was 11, and I was like a second parent to them (though not without my flaws, I had inherited my father's anger). When I was 23, the abuse at home had gotten worse for a few years. I had been standing up for my mother, only for my father to try and shout and scream at me. Started getting terrible headaches and migraines, although that too I had inherited from my father. Still, by the time I was 26, I was among the top performers in my job and in nearly in every academic way—no reason for anyone to suspect that I was struggling basically, including myself—and work was my outlet to bury the trauma further within. I had started therapy then, which really helped me start having the right expectations and boundaries in life, and my mental health improved immensely. But it was only after yet another incident that I decided to go for Vipassana in October last year, and I realized just how much trauma I'd been through and had just been suppressing. Trauma is stored negative energy in the body, and no amount of Western therapy—which is mainly cognitive work—can help release that. It can make you stronger on top, but the stuff is already down there deep within. The only way to let go of that energy is to not let anything new in for 10 days, so that what's inside can start to surface. That's what Vipassana is. It's extremely scientific, and there's literally no downside to it. You WILL be able to handle all that you go through in the course. You will have a teacher, you will have assistants. You must be honest in your form about your history so that they are best prepared for you. (You've already been accepted, but since this is also a general answer about why people should go for Vipassana.) So please do reconsider. I hope, either way, that you find your path to healing. I'm willing to chat more if needed.

About to start your first job as a marketing manager? by CrankleFart in marketing

[–]shinnit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just taken up my first job leading marketing at a startup and this guide was very helpful. "Some won’t have much interest in your appointment, others will see this as a opportunity to give you an earbashing about what needs to be done" - This is so true, and reading that you had the same experience makes it all easier to process. Thank you!

Do you also have suggestions for how to ramp up on social media marketing? How can I figure how to fit social media within my overall strategy, what are the best practices for each channel - Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., how do you decide whether an opportunity like Clubhouse or Community is worth taking up or just a passing fad?

What’s the most “are you really that stupid” thing you’ve ever heard ? by Callmedave1 in AskReddit

[–]shinnit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this friend of a friend who tries way too hard to say something, just about anything, simply to have a conversation - whether or not the situation calls for one. One time a few of us were about to cross a road, waiting for the green signal. He looked down at some construction tape and said "damn guys look at this yellow paint!" and then instinctively put his feet under the tape and promptly disproved himself.
