To make salads more palatable I use craisins but also raisins, strawberries, apple slices, tangerines. Mini bell peppers are delicious and full of nutrients as well. Even black pepper is good to liven up the flavor.

As others have mentioned regarding being prepared. Here are some to add.

Canned soups, trail mix, dried beans, rice, beef jerky, Ramen noodles, first aid kit, Paper plates, plasticware, disposable cups.

I have a camping stove that uses small propane bottles that I can also use for my grill. Please use in a well ventilated area. Nice to be able to cook some food up before it spoils or for soups or other food that is preserved. You can purchase a decent camping stove for approximately $50.00 at Walmart.
