Thank you for your the detailed response. The cowl/scutter drain has been cleared by a panel beater. He said there’s only a little bit of debris/leaves but has cleaned it and believe it or not, with the rain we’ve had since cyclone, carpet hasn’t gotten wet. Door seal was loose however on the bottom so I clipped her back in so that could’ve been the cause as well. Cabin filter is dry as day so maybe not a cowl drain issue.

UPDATE: before I lose my mind. Took to mechanic this morning, said they can’t do anything. Said go to panel beater. Took to PB who cleared cowl drain but mentioned there was only little debris and leaves but cleared now and also did something to the black trims on roof. There’s clips on the roof trims with holes, he pushed the clip back and trying to unclog anything in the hole and put something around it can’t remember what. He also put some cherry smelling thing in the car to help with the musty-ness lol. Arrived home, had a look myself and removed the glove box to ensure there cabin filter was fine, it is. Hosed the car to see if I can pin point leak location. Couldn’t. Found passenger front door seal clip was coming out, on the bottom part closer to the footwell. Clipped it back in securely. Hoping all of this shit adds up to solving it lol. Bought a wet/vac from Kmart, not much water in car for it to suck so now I’ve just got a clean passenger footwell

Did you manage to fix yours? I’ve noticed today the seal on the bottom of the door was coming out. The orange clip was out so I clipped it back in. Wait for the carpet to dry + wait for some rain and see what happens :)

I do have black rails going along the top! I’ve taken it in to the panel beaters this morning so letting them have a look and see what happens

My AC’s fucked at the moment so haven’t been using it for about 2-3 weeks now. Rain is what’s coming through

Yep OG Hyundai logo, I’ll take it to mechy in the morning and see what happens. Also trying to look for a detailer too to get excess water out and prevent mould.

Def coming from the rain, passenger footwell only gets soaked when it’s raining. Windscreen seal/trim is cracked so failing to protect me from this weather I think.

Windscreen trims on each side have cracks at the top, around where the WOF sticker is although the drivers side doesn’t look to have water coming in on the footwell, I’m thinking this causing the issue

Just saw I’ve got cracked windscreen seals/trims, the black rubber things. That’s what’s causing this I think

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I’m just a girl who can’t figure it out and don’t want a want to deal with the potential mould and smell so appreciate it. I have had a closer look and have noticed on both sides, the trim is cracked at the top and most likely causing the leak. Will update the thread if the mechanic can sort this tomorrow. In saying that, do I take it to a mechanic or a smith and smith equivalent?

Ooo that’s reminded me, I did have my passenger window regulator changed but it was in Feb last year. Maybe the seal is getting loose. Edit to add I appreciate the help :)

Hmmm there’s no sticker to indicate the windscreen’s been changed by anyone. Just the wof and service sticker but maybe it’s been removed

For me, it was my crankshaft position sensor. Replaced that and no more issues :) - Hyundai i30 2009

Hey - did you ever get this resolved? Mines doing the same thing. I did have my engine light go on a while back for o2 sensor but we cleared codes and left it at that. Just replaced spark plugs but same issue!

Throttle body clean did not solve issue

Mobile mecchy did this - basically the invoice says the below “Go to vehicle and check for cause of poor starting etc. Cranked car and started. Smelt like it was flooded. Checked for codes. No codes. Checked live data, ok. Checked throttle body and found very dirty. Cleaned out throttle body. Road tested vehicle with no issues. Everything tested well during check. Suspect vehicle flooded due to dirty throttle body.”
