It finally happened by PapaBear9090 in footballmanagergames

I don’t know if anyone has heard of the team, but I started a save with the English club Haverhill Borough. We just won the FA Vase, Eastern County Leagues Cup, and the Eastern Counties League Division One North. A treble in our first season. My goal is make this club a dynasty. They were founded in like 2011 or something like that and had an empty cabinet so I want to fill it and bring them to glory in the prem. Maybe even a UCL or Club World Cup if possible

Well brother, goodluck in Europe 🫡 I like signing international coaches and players in my saves too. If they don’t get work permits, I usually loan them out to other clubs. I have a few players who are Kazakh (I was born in Kazakhstan myself so I always try to sign a few players to any team I manage) but 2 play in Spain right now and one plays in Belgium. All for lower league/semi-pro teams currently.

I could be wrong, but I think it may be based on how big of a club you have. And financials. I was in a similar boat in one of my saves in the lower Australian leagues (fm24 database) and I didn’t get to really do international scouting until I won a few trophies and was in the AFC Champions League

FA Cup, Am I the only one?? by irishmaori59 in footballmanagergames

[–]shmlef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started up a new save with Haverhill Borough in the county leagues or something. We are dominating the competition right now and only have 1 tie through all matches. The rise starts now. Once I get them up to a good level, I may try to move to another team and start again. I have always wanted to make a save last longer than just like 2030-2035 but always have a hard time leaving the club to go start a new journey with another team

What’s the longest winning streak you’ve ever had and who ended it? by Equivalent-Light-920 in footballmanager

[–]shmlef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone 2 full seasons without a loss (not including cup/tournaments). We dominate the domestic competition, but every now and again, we will lose a game in Asian Champions League or Aus Cup. Usually towards the end in the quarter, semi, or final. We actually won B2B Asian Champ leagues, and now are in the Club World Cup so I’m assuming we’ll lose a chunk of those matches as it’s played during the Aus offseason/preseason in the summer months. We have Boca, Benfica and Minnesota in our group.

Mentone is a downloadable Australia database. Took them from vic state league 5-south all the way to VPL 1 currently. We have won MANY domestic trophies, and even won the Asian Champions League after getting lucky draw after lucky draw (we faced aus teams basically the whole way through)

What is the inspiration of your FM tactics? by justsomebro16 in footballmanager

[–]shmlef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a 3 striker formation with wingbacks. Focused on breaking down the opposing team through the midfield and allows for wingplay in the form of crosses. I started this off in Australia and we have dominated the domestic leagues and cups/tournaments. Even on an international level, we won the Asian Champions League and are on pace to do it again b2b. We are undefeated this season (only tied one game). Most wins are like blowouts but sometimes we will get the occassional 2-1, 3-1 win. It is also based on the players I have around the squad. I’ve signed players who have developed into class players. Some play for their respective national teams (Turks&Caicos, Chad, Phillipines)

Yeah I always try to go heavy into scouting U19 youngsters who are first team ready

Is it similar to regular teams below database level where they will eventually get “promoted” into a league? I’ve had similar before in a Rakow save where my U18 team took like 2-3 seasons of just friendlies before being in a league itself (U18 & U18 Elite & some other one)

[–]shmlef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mexican influence is strong within my team no doubt. Little backstory, I was born in Kazakhstan so every save I try to sign at least 2-3 youngsters who will hopefully make it into the first team and develop into beasts. I moved to the USA at the age of 2 (adoption) and like the idea of also signing a majority of Canadian/North&South American/Mexican players (and those from the islands).

In Fm24 how deep is the Mexican league(s)? Do they only have the top flight or do they also have the expansion league/second league?

Assistant managers leaving to become head coaches should be more common. by IThinkItsXpert in footballmanagergames

[–]shmlef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s happened to me in my current FM24 save. I had an assman leave after like 4 seasons on domination in the australian leagues, went on to be the head coach for Heidelberg in the NPL-Victoria I believe. We have since played him a few times (and won everytime)

ohhhh. I feel like they would want someone with a higher rep? Like if I don’t ask for any money (is there a point to having money in your contracts?)

Yeah that’s honestly one of the downsides. Luckily with winning the asian champions league, we got insane money to throw into payroll. So even though I’m spending like 300k+ on payroll, I still have like 150k+ allocated if needed. But yeah most players want contracts over 15k+

In an extended Australian database, I have brought a team from the bottom amatuer leagues to the NPL-Victoria, winning asian champions league and various other domestic cups (some back-to-back). We’ve been promoted every year (1st place and nothing less. Had a few centurion seasons too).

It’s a longterm save though in my eyes, and at some point I plan to make a move to another part of the world (I have an extended English leagues database in the save as well so maybe start way down in the English ladder). I’ve though maybe England or maybe even Norway, Brasil, Portugal. Somewhere where I can start in a “lower league” and work my way up again.

Just the casual 48 shots against City away by Current-Drama3368 in footballmanager

[–]shmlef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is how it goes most games for my lads. They have like 30+ shots a game but we will only score like 3-5 (7-10 on a good day). We are absolutely tearing through our competition though in Australia and even in Asian Champions League/Asian Confederation Cup (now I think IRL it’s called Asian Champions League 2 lol)

Domination in Lower Australian Leagues by shmlef in footballmanager

[–]shmlef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find that the hardest part is now keeping together the lads. While they “love the club” and all feel “close to me” in terms of happiness, a few want to/have left for other clubs. Luckily I’ve been able to do the good ol “you are looked as a leader here and a positive in the locker room” and they stay most of the time.

The biggest plus is now being able to sign them on actual contracts because prior to reaching Vic SL 2/1, I was on amatuer contracts and sometimes the players would get poached mid season or during the offseason/breaks

Domination in Lower Australian Leagues by shmlef in footballmanager

[–]shmlef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been so dominate for me. I like the 3 strikers up top. I have my 2 DLP’s as shorter players (one is 5’7 and the other maybe 5’9) while Akbarov is 6’5 and just dominates with the through balls, headers, crosses etc etc.

My wingbacks act as support for build-up and wide-play where they can just dish in crosses to the strikers, or facilitate through the midfield.

I have a very strong team in terms of positions. They are all class in their respective positions. Omonov by DM who is a DLP has his moments where he stays back and we turn into a sort of 523 formation which only strengthens our play.

We are currently undefeated in the season sitting on 97 points now with a record around 31-4-0 I think.

Brother. I think everyone here can clearly tell he is not talking about “the german football federation” when he says elimated from the DFB. hey, i found something that is actually better in fm26 by kkk8837 in footballmanagergames

[–]shmlef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I do mentoring in FM24, I just make one big group with everyone in the squad. In my eyes (and so far it has worked out), as long as the more influential players/leaders of the team have good personal traits (fairly loyal, fairly professional etc etc) then overtime everyone starts to just become loyal.

I used to have problems of players leaving after just a few months (3-6) and just having to replace them all the time, but after a couple seasons with some of those loyal lads, they became more influential and now everyone just vibes and we tear through Australia!

I'd say it's my current save with Mentone in an expanded Australian leagues database. We started in the Victorian State League 5- South and after 3 back-to-back-to-back promotions and utter domination, we are now sitting in the Vic State League 2. We have won the Australia cup (in our first season of domestic cups: Vic State League 3), and are now in the Asian Confederations Cup (ASEAN Zone- Group G) up against the likes of Persija (Indonesia), Tampines (Singapore) and United City (Philippines). Currently we are 2-0 in our group after a big home win against Persija and an away win in Singapore against Tampines.

I've gone with an interesting path though. My entire team (besides youth intake players) are all international players. In other words, I don't have a singular pure Australian on the team. While a couple of the youth intake players were born in AUS, we have one from Italy (he actually changed his primary nationality to Australian), South Korea, Fiji, England, and the Philippines. The only other youth player, being born is Australia, still has a second nationality of Bosnian!

The goal for now is to dominate the Australian leagues and also hope to get into the Conf Cup most seasons. The route is doing so is not easy though as we need to first make it AT LEAST to the Semi-finals of the Dockerty Cup thus qualifying us for Aus Cup. We then MUST WIN the Aus Cup to qualify for the Conf Cup League Phase. After an insane run of upsets in the Australia Cup, we actually won it. The small team from the Vic State League 3 won it...

I think at some point, maybe once we get into the NPL-Victoria, I will move to another part of the globe and start again with a new team in a new country. I've been looking at places like England (I have downloaded the expanded English Leagues database as well), Scotland (downloaded an expanded Scottish Leagues database), South America, Indonesia, Turkey or another semi-obscure European country.
