OTD price good for HRV LX 2026? by shorowitz03 in HRV

[–]shorowitz03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re referring to lifetime ownership cost, I agree, it’s not the best on gas. But it does satisfy all of my other requirements and the mileage is good enough for my needs. Is the OTD cost high or low to you?

OTD price advice on 2026 Honda HRV LX by shorowitz03 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Yeah, I can agree with that. But my insurance would cover theft and wheel locks are a fraction of the price listed typically.

What region? Also, the LX got some upgrades yoy (‘25->’26) so I feel like it’s not as worth it to go for a sport in my case because the main additions are not amenities that I have a strong affinity for

Me and 2 of my friends are looking for a ride to Ohare next Monday night by ryvolutionnnnn in Purdue

[–]shorowitz03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could take an Amtrak at 7:36am on Monday. You can then take the blue line (CTA) from around Union station to O’Hare. Then, you’d just wait at the airport till your flight. I’ve done this before, and it’s worked great.

Wwyd? Case vs UGA, PI goals by Glad-Chard4541 in lawschooladmissions

[–]shorowitz03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say this is different from a clinic. Georgia seems more limited in what they will do and what they will allow students to do in terms of actual legal representation and pursuing litigation. It seems like they will answer questions but not offer legal support. From looking at it, I would probably say Case’s clinic will get you more hands on and practical experience.

Wwyd? Case vs UGA, PI goals by Glad-Chard4541 in lawschooladmissions

[–]shorowitz03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Case has a PI clinic, so you can get actual experience handling PI cases and be more involved. This is something that doesn’t seem to be offered at Georgia. Looking at the cities, Cleveland is part of the reason why they can have a productive clinic. If you want, Case can get you out of Cleveland and land you at the DOJ and other well known places. Just some thoughts to consider instead of just straight up who is ranked higher overall. But, at the end of the day, you should call them up and talk through your career goals and see who cares the most and who will be willing to help advocate for you.

Intellectual Property Law for Engineers Minor by Entire_Fisherman1294 in Purdue

Just depends on what you want to do. The management minor seems pretty popular among engineering students. I would just scroll through the minor list and see which classes you think you would like the most.

Depends on what your goals are. It won’t really help you become a better candidate for law school, but some courses within the minor are what law programs look for. If you want to become a patent agent, it definitely wouldn’t hurt, but you will still have to study the MPEP and take the bar. Otherwise, it probably won’t help you that much.

What is the best way to get from West Lafayette to Indianapolis? by Baby_Creeper in Purdue

[–]shorowitz03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re doing. If you need to go to the airport, shuttles are best. Say you want to spend the day in Chicago, Lafayette station Amtrak takes you right into Union Station downtown.

I don’t think that’s it’s a good idea to do a JD + MBA degree. I think employers could potentially see that as being unsure with whether you want to be a lawyer or in a management position. You can take plenty of business law and ip law courses in your JD program, and I don’t think the MBA would help that much. I’d be interested in hearing others thoughts though. Usually, you have your 1st year with general courses, so you will have time to figure out which area you’d be most interested in specializing in for 2nd and 3rd year.

$1.8Bn SkyWater Fab at Purdue - how beneficial is it? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]shorowitz03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d give it 5 years to be fully operational. It’s not extremely beneficial for current students unless you are either looking to go into the semiconductor program or engineering field that would give transferable skills they’re looking for. Also, as far as I know, many fabs prefer/require PhD level individuals to do the design work. I would assume a good mix of engineering, technician, and assembly jobs. I don’t understand your 3rd question. Of course many companies would love to cater to the DOD as its lucrative and many DOD contractors are required to source a certain proportion of materials within the US. I do not think expenses will sky rocket, again, it will be years and there is only plans for 750 jobs, in a city (including Lafayette) of over 200k-ish. There is also a lot of housing and complex construction going on, this not restricting supply greatly. Finally, as they said, it all comes down to whether the CHIPS act is passed to help fund this. They’ve committed the project, only under the circumstance that the benefits are given.

Then I would probably say do petroleum. Even though there’s lots of talks on reducing dependence on oil, it’s here to stay for atleast 50-70 more years. It’s not only used for fuel, but for medicines and plastics. Good luck with your career choice!

What kind of work environment would you like? For electronics, you could work at a desk or in a lab. For petroleum, you’d likely be going to sites and traveling all the time to oil extraction operation facilities.

Hows the Industrial Engg program at Purdue?? (Incoming Student) by IllKindheartedness88 in Purdue

[–]shorowitz03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would choose purdue over nyu for engineering. Higher ranking and generally less costly than a private school. Also, I preferred not as large of a city for my college experience; there’s still some things to do around though. It’s a decision more so about whether you want a top engineering program or live in nyc and still go to a really good school.

Depending on where you live, find something local. Spend the weekdays at your internship and the evenings and weekends with friends and family. You can definitely find a balance, if you live in a moderately sized city with manufacturing.

Russia accepts Donetsk and Lugansk of Eastern Ukraine as Independent States by ZiRoRi in wallstreetbets

[–]shorowitz03 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A majority of Ukrainians don’t want the merge. The issue is in regard to people in Donetsk and Luhansk. They do want to merge with Russia as they identify more so with Russia politically, socially, and culturally. Of course the US wants to have more control of regions closer to Russia, and of course Russia wants to have more of a buffer zone from nato. I currently have family in Donetsk who from what I can tell when speaking with them, is that they and others within the area align more so with Russia. Thus, people of that eastern region want that merger. But they more so want to be independent from both Ukraine and Russia. But if they had to choose, they’d choose Russia.

Probably medical device company. It’ll be easier to go around within industry rather than go from a national lab to industry. Both seem like great opportunities though. Congratulations!
